Ultimately it probably won't have anything big or major enough in it for people to bother with upgrading.

 

Why is it that iZotope upgrade their tools on a regular basis? Ozone is also v9 already. Some marketing trick perhaps?

 

At this point people wait for one thing only - implementation of RX via ARA plug-in standart.

64bit processing and audio export/import support?
Ctrl for fine tuning src filter which cancelled since v5 and higher?
Mid side editing (not only left and right)?
Dynamic spectral equing?
Lossy codecs audio restoration?
Proper working pre-ringing knob in src (it doesn't work in-between, either minimum phase or linear)?
And many more i can't remember........ A lot!

 

Good points as well. Btw, I suppose they added M\S processing(you can see it in one of the icons they showed in the video).

Some Exponential Audio reverbs will be integrated, and apparently get's a newly designed interface..

 

Spectral Layers Pro might be one of its bigger competitors. If you look at the new features in SLP that are missing in RX7, anticipate something similarly new in RX8.

 

For lossy codecs audio restoration there's already a plenty of quality tools: Thimeo Stereo Tool (or Thimeo Perfect Declipper), Zynaptiq UNFilter and UNChirp, Acon Digital DeFilter and Vitalize, Apulsoft ApUnmask, Terry West Productions Relife, etc.
Dynamic spectral EQing VSTs one can find everywhere, including iZotope Ozone, (also, it is not logical for it to be included in RX).

I agree, SLP does a better job at the stem separation, I think.

RX7 adv. costs iirc ~1200$. ATM, if you look at Plugin Boutique, you get: Ozone 9, Neutron 3 (all adv.), Nectar 3, Tonal balance -all for 150$* BUT you also get RX7 elements completely free. (In fact you can get RX7 elem. free with any purchase)
*You have to own ANY izotope product

And for 150$, I will buy the so called Tonal balance advanced bundle.. Next time they will probably offer me RX8 adv. crossgrade (from my RX7 elem.) for some reasonable or even crazy price. Damn!

izotope is constantly asking money for their yearly software updates. People think it is a bad thing but they still own an older version which they like.

 

I was checking their website on a daily basis looking for just one thing. Implementation of their dialogue match plugin in RX 8.
Also it would be good if we could use a transport wheel or similar midi controller. But I think they are going for the stems "race". Who's gonna make the best AI engine to separate stems without any noticeable flaws.

 

Because they tend to add a few superfluous modules and call it a new version it's a bit off-putting, as @lasteno so eloquently put it
but Rx is such a solid piece of software, i love it anyway.

RX has the best stem separation software, cant wait to try the newly tuned modules!

 

They need more and more money. But they do not force their user base like subscription models. I think it's a win win situation for both customers and company.

 

I hate the subscription model, its never going to take over neither is cloud migration
