I had a look at the other offers at PluginDiscounts and saw that McDSP has a 50 % offer. So before getting iZotope I rather would buy the awesome and powerful McDSP ML 4000 Multiband Comp/Gate/Expander/Limiter for 78 $ and put it at the end of my own mastering chain. It's the best thing I ever used for putting the final touches on my mixes.

Nothing is "vintage" unless it's from a previous time period (from the past) but that word is misused as it (originally) pertains to wine-making.
Today... the word "vintage" is used to sell ANYTHING made today under the guise of "quality, taste and historic".
"Quality" is subject to taste because back in the day, we HATED the wow and flutter and inherent noise from tape but after the years of audio sterility, the ears welcome noise (to some degree, again... it's a matter of taste) to the point that now, people actually make plugins that simulate the noise we tried SO HARD to get rid of!!!!

I fear that once we find a cure for cancer and all diseases, mankind will crave the "vintage" human experience and re-introduce cancer and diseases... because it's a cool sell... :woot:. (I know, morbid and a bit extreme but that's how stupid our progressing generations have become).

@LuckySevens: I totaly agree with you. The word is definetly misused as you described. I just wanted to say the same but my humble english capabilities just allowed me so far ;)

Did anyone notice a difference between the CPU usage from Ozone 5 to Ozone 7 Advance? Is Oz7 heavy on resources? Regards

I've noticed with certain settings, especially when you go big time oversampling etc, it is definitely definitely heavier then Izotope 5, I use it in conjunction with other plugs in my mastering chain (also like the new IK Stealth Limiter ((another cpu)) beast, so lately, for final mastering, I have been exporting my 2 mix to a new session, and running just 2 tracks of audio through the chain.... it probably depends on what modules you are using, .... but it sounds a lot better then I thought it would!

Yes it's heavier. on the video card I think, because I noticed that from the start on a set-up with integrated video-graphics

Thanks for the replies. I usually set the Exiter and the Limiter on the master bus somewhere during the mixing stage to get " a more close to the final sound" but if its cpu heavy ill try to avoid it and maybe stay on Ozone 5 for that. Heard some really good comments on the Ozone 7 limiter for mastering like being "The new standard" think it was the Noisia guys.

    I don't know about the CPU consume...but there's a huge difference between 32 and 64 Bit usage.
64 Bit is faster but eats up a lot more memory space, no problem if you have a computer with a bold memory.

I was really looking forward too the new maximize algo. but it disappointed in the opposite way. It is too transparent for me in most cases, but its good to have options I guess .

in addition, the exciter sounds better to me and the vintage comp and tape are great too.

I also still use version 5, but thats because I like to brag about having a license :bleh:

There's no need to oversample explicitly. Just turn on prevent ISC, or turn down the threshold a bit, and be done with it.

ISP's can be a REAL PITA, especially when delivering to iTunes etc, which is why I like IK's Stealth Limiter with 64x, ... I have had more then one occasion where even with proper levels and deliverables ISP's run rampant... Oversampling doesn't necessarily kill them, and I always print my stuff really low to give mastering engineers or myself lots of headroom to work with, ...and you are right, there is no reason to oversample "explicitly", but I find, given the time and cpu power, it definitely makes a difference, especially when i have other engineers examining stuff with 20 different meters etc...
