What is Iris?

Wow, it looks absolutely fantastic. The funny thing is that I'm already used to create/modify my sounds with iZotope RX's spectral tools, and the results are astounding.
They've done here a step further : this is definitely a sound designer's paradise .

RX is indeed an incredible tool. To turn it in to a Synth.......... WOW!

This thing just looks AWESOME!

 

Well... after intensive testing, my enthusiasm fell back. As I already posted @ AudioZ...

I thought Iris was an evolution of RX2 so my judgment was biaised, but in fact it's a big step back.

The selection tools were poorly designed and you can't even play a sample (at his root note) by pressing the spacebar to hear the result. Why the hell didn't they copy RX2's workflow ? Idiots !

As for the synthesis engine : a pitiful joke.

If you have RX2 (for sound design) and Kontakt (for playing the result) you're far beyond than with Iris, but of course you've also paid a lot more...

iZotope was one of my favourite company, but after their T-Pain "in the ass" effect this toy makes them falling deeper and deeper in my esteem.
