    A Revolutionary Mixing Tool

An industry first, Neutron’s Track Assistant saves you time by listening your audio and recommending custom starting points for your track. The analysis intelligence within Neutron allows Track Assistant to automatically detect instruments, recommend the placement of EQ nodes, and set optimal settings for other modules. You still maintain full control over all your mix decisions, but Track Assistant gives you more time to focus on what’s most important — your creative take on the mix.

Another industry first, Neutron’s Masking Meter allows you to visually identify and fix perceptual frequency collisions between instruments, which can result in guitars masking lead vocals, bass covering up drums, and other issues that can cause a “muddy” or overly crowded mix. Easily tweak each track to carve away muddiness and reveal new sonic possibilities.

Neutron can be used on every track, offering zero-latency, CPU-efficient performance. With an industry leading static /dynamic EQ, two multiband Compressors, a multiband Transient Shaper, a multiband Exciter, and a True Peak Limiter, users will hear clearer results in less time.

    ■ Track Assistant
    - Automatically detects different instrument types like guitar, vocals, bass, and drums
    - Creates custom, optimal starting points based on your audio tracks
    - Offers three levels of power, from Subtle to Medium to Aggressive
    - Adds Neutrino’s Spectral Shaping sound for subtle focus and clarity
    - Intelligently places EQ nodes and creates an EQ curve
    - Sets optimal settings for signal flow, including single or multiband processing
    - Smartly places crossovers in multiband modes
    - Selects Compressor style (Digital or Vintage) and automatically sets settings (Threshold, Attack, Release, and Ratio)
    - Selects Exciter algorithm blend and dials in a custom amount tuned to the audio

    ■ Masking Meter
    - Visually identifies which frequencies are being perceptually masked by another track
    - Adjusts both the selected track and masking track’s EQ settings from within the same plug-in GUI
    - Identify frequency masking trouble spots over time using the Histogram

    ■ Equalizer
    - Static or Dynamic functionality per node
    - Side-chain functionality for Dynamic nodes
    - Up to 12 EQ Bands
    - Flat LP/HP, Resonant LP/HP, Analog lo/hi shelf, Baxandall bass/treble, Vintage lo/hi shelf, Prop Q, Band shelf
    - Multiple frequency scale types: Linear, Mel, Log, Extended Log, Flat Log
    - Adjust both the lead track and masking track’s EQ settings from within the same plug-in GUI
    - Piano roll overlay
    - Individual Equalizer plug-in Advanced Only

    ■ Compressor
    - Clean modern or colorful vintage compression modes
    - Single or multiband modes
    - Threshold and crossover frequency auto-learn
    - Peak, RMS, or transparent True Envelope detection
    - Program dependent auto-release
    - Internal or external side-chain per band
    - Analog (zero-latency) or Hybrid (transparent) crossovers
    - Individual Compressor plug-in Advanced Only

    Transient Shaper
    - 3 Global Modes: Precise, Balanced, Loose
    - 3 Contour Shapes: Sharp, Medium, and Smooth
    - Single or multiband
    - Crossover frequency auto-learn
    - Analog (zero-latency) or Hybrid (transparent) crossovers
    - Individual Transient Shaper plug-in Advanced Only

    ■ Exciter
    - 3 Global Modes to fine-tune saturation color: Full, Defined, Clean
    - 4 blendable saturation types: Tube, Warm, Tape, & Retro
    - Unique, easy to use blend interface
    - Single or multiband
    - Crossover frequency auto-learn
    - Analog (zero-latency) or Hybrid (transparent) crossovers
    - Individual Exciter plug-in Advanced Only

    ■ Limiter

With all the current products from iZotope, the word "Revolutionary" lets me expect something very exciting.
    I'm curious.

    From the iZotope site:
Achieve unprecedented focus and clarity in your mixes with the Neutron mixing plug-in. With powerful new features like Track Assistant, Masking Meter, and industry leading processors, Neutron helps you quickly reach an optimal starting point, clearly identify perceptual frequency collisions, and fully wield creative control over all your mix decisions.

    Neutron Advanced:
Includes everything in Neutron plus separate plugins for the Equalizer, Compressor, Transient Shaper and Exciter for the ultimate flexibility when mixing. In addition, Neutron Advanced includes surround support up to 7.1.

Beautiful GUI - I love plugins that have a clean layout. It looks like everything in this plug-in just 'makes sense'. Very exited for the release of this one...

I guess this is why all their other stuff has been so heavily discounted recently. Trying to cash in a bit before releasing another plugin that will, by virtue of being shiny and new, detract from the others. Whatever - I for one am not mad about it. I picked up their whole mixing and mastering range for something like $350.

At any rate, assuming this thing is any good--and knowing iZotope I'm sure it will be--I hope there's some kind of loyalty/upgrade pricing available to people who own the music production bundle.

Well, actually Neutrino was pretty much on the edge of being audible, I'd just use a slight multiband and call it a day

Well, this better have the features of & replace Alloy. These things are getting redundant.

If it's better than Alloy2 (nice stuff) why not?

Alloy never was a useful tool for me, as any other their products (except Ozone obviously). So why yes?

'cause what is not useful for you could be the right choice for the others. Not everyone has the capabilities to use Ozone 7 the right way and not everyone needs it. :)

" Neutron can listen to a track and then advise you which bands of EQ to move to make a difference to the sound, it’s magic. The second is that it can listen to other tracks and then mask conflicting frequencies. I tried it on a vocal and piano and it was truly magic what it did, with zero phase or other nasty artefacts it cleaned up some of the mid range to help the vocal sit better. Now what’s even better is that it does it in such a subtle way that you can hardly notice it, until that is you bypass the plugins. (...)

(...) Some of you are going to love Neutron, some are going to hate it - all I would say is don’t knock it until you have tried it."

    A video from AES

    Note:
The TA (track assistant) can find resonant frequencies just like TDR VOS SlickEQ GE. TDR has released that features before them.

I still haven't heard anything about how the IRC technology is different/better from regular stuff. I don't care about the fancy metering. The side-by-side view while sidechaining the vocal to a multiband comp on another track is nice, but I've been doing it for a couple years with fabfilter Pro-MB, which gives me the option to process only the middle of the stereo field (don't know if Neutron has that or not, but IMO it's pretty clutch since vox are usually mono and I don't want to cut into the synth more than I have to)

One thing that makes me both hopeful and skeptical is the Music Production Bundle 2 pricing. Not to say it doesn't look like a nice plugin, but it's not worth $300 to me. Tbh, given that I already have more EQs and comps than I need, and izotope's whole mixing/mastering line already, it's not worth 200 to me. Hopefully the upgrade from MPB to MPB2 is cheap. Skeptical though because.... a whole new bundle because they added one plugin?
