All these protections are just pointless because they always get cracked sooner or later, and they also annoy the customers. Not to mention that they can also make our software unstable. I'm so glad this got cracked. Bye iLok! :bleeeh: LOL

The funny part is that the jerry dee guy cannot spell for crap, and the guys giving him crap just have bad grammar and punctuation skills at worst.

 

Yeah, don't get me wrong, I don't mean to say that the end users view iLok 2 as a success, but merely that I suspect Pace and its clients (plugin developers) won't view iLok 2 as a total failure just because it was cracked, as it did provide three years of protection.

But yeah, unquestionably from the end-user point of view … total piece of shit.

I am not so sure about that. As a client are you willing to pay a certain fee for just 3 years of protection?
I like more developers who shares another point of view which is not protection related but based on quality. They know their stuff is going to be leaked somewhere sometimes so what they do, instead of losing their time in protection stuff, is creating the best stuff they can in order to force people buying what they do and to obtain many loyal customers as a result.

This is not only "another" cracked dongle.
It happens after iLok2 server blackout.
After a lot of general complains from USERS (yes, you know...real ppl buying and using softwares ;) ).
It happens when most plugins makers provide this infamous month rental scheme (you didn't paid this month ? you can't open your projects to gain money to pay it...).
And more...

To me, there are two sides : ying and yang.
It can be positive on one side : killing stupid expansive protections (because devs pay for it big bucks...and you pay it at the end).
It can be negative : killing some not-so-big devs like Soundtoys, their tech being absorbed by a concurrent company.

Devs will not only loose money on products themselves, but on time lost to implement iLok2 too

 

I purchased Pro Tools and some plugins last year and within a week I'd lost the damn dongle. Got it replaced (pain in the ass) and the second one broke a couple days later - it just stopped working for no reason. At this point I had projects to work on so I went back to Logic and my AU plugins. I don't have time, and I can't risk my career on a flimsy POS. Fuck those guys! I've still got all my software, is there any word on a Mac crack? I will need to use ProTools for a new project soon and I'm SO dreading dealing with iLok again...

 

That's right, it's a generalist sharing site. When they talk about how they cr@ck "steam whatever" for games I don't have a clue. I'd appreciate guidance if I get a game for the first time.
