what a post beat16! I'm gonna have to go back and dig through this with a microscope when I get my internet back. this is probably worth going to a coffee shop later this week for, just to get some inspiration.

I'm absolutely thrilled and looking forward to hearing enates track- that is one of the coolest fucking things I've seen on the internet probably. a post on italo disco, and then a fellow forum user casually drops a track they made in 83 if I'm reading that correctly.

apologies if I missed this and someone posted it (my data is limited and some of the youtube links don't show the names until you click them.)

but here is one I like. I regret selling my crumar a few years back, in retrospect a few months in a tent would have been worth it.

Italo & mixing. Remembering Peter Slaghuis.
Peter was a DJ remixer-producer from Holland. In the eighties, he was resident DJ at the once famous discotheque ‘Bluetiek-Inn’ in Rotterdam, playing Disco, Italo and the first House music.

He also created 13 ‘Disco Breaks’ - so called mega-mixes, where he creatively cut together around 10 records in 10-15 minutes. They were released on vinyl and very limited available through a couple of recordstores. Disco Breaks’ A sides had Dance & Disco tracks, Later on, their B-sides were totally Italo.

These mixes were a work of art. Now imagine, this was before DAWs and computers were around.
The mixes were cut together on tape machines using a blade and cellotape, a very laborious job.
When Akai introduced the first affordable samplers, these were also used a lot..

DJ’s & Remixers like Peter Slaghuis had an important role in the development of dance music.
Their cuts changed song structures of dance tracks & other popular music over the years.
