I have an issue with the soundminer plus font not showing.
The program shows what looks like question marks.
    Someone posted a fix like,
" Soundminer => Show Preferences, General => FONT: (i.e. "Google Sans")"
Does anyone know what this means or how to fix it in Windows?
    thanx

You may have installed a Russian or Chinese version, but your Windows is running in a locale that uses a different font. If the language can be changed inside Soundminer (and only in that case), get a "locale emulator" and restart the program with your locale set to Russian/Chinese. You'll see proper characters instead of ??? ?? ????? ??? ??????. Open Google Translate in camera mode on your phone, navigate your way through settings until you find where to change the language. Restart Soundminer with your normal locale.

Or find a copy in a language you know. Or find where it stores the language setting and change it there (file or registry).

Are you using the r2r version from the siter site?
Because that doesn't seem to be a russion or chinese version, no problems there.
If you're using that I dont think the problem is soundminer itself, but that the font chosen cant display the characters you need.
    So as someone suggested:
In soundminer, there is a menu called soundminer.
you open that and select Show Preferences.
On the Tab "general" (thats the one that is already open, so nothing to do there)
you go to the lower section of the window, to FONT:
there you change fonts until you see the characters you want to see.
I changed it to LUCIDA CONSOLE, because it is good to read on distant monitors, but it is ugly as hell ;)

If I may at this point, and I'm sorry, but I have to:
" Soundminer => Show Preferences, General => FONT: (i.e. "Google Sans")"
is a perfectly good answer to your question. I know we're artists and all, and 'fucking computers'.. but you really need to have a skillset to be abel to go from " Soundminer => Show Preferences, General => FONT: (i.e. "Google Sans")"

The "oh my, I don't know what to do, so I don't do anything"-approach does not bring experience.
I can't image that you havent even opened the preferences once to change that bloody bastard to your liking.
So do yourself a favor and dive deeper into your tools.
Surf thourgh the menues and let your curiosity take over :)

The problem was that none of the menus were readable, so I couldn't follow the directions!
" Soundminer => Show Preferences, General => FONT: (i.e. "Google Sans")"
I could not read it to find that part of the menu.
There was no need for your ridiculous ending to your reply.
Not everyone is as brilliant as you!
Anyway, I was finally able to find a solution. after looking closely and enlarging the GUI by about 150%,
I was able to determine the font that was being used and deleted it.
After that, I was able to read the menu find the preferences, and change the font. thanx

I'm sorry, I didn't wanna sound like a complete dick.
In my defence you wouldnt believe what I have seen over the years.
Worst day was when 3 weeks of paid work were lost, because the talent, after being in the business for 25 years, not once made a backup.

In your case I was not able to understand that even the gui was compromised by this and that you were not even able to read the menus.
That would have been a crucial information, and I would have had no problem to guide you through it like "most left menu, entry number 4 from top... ando so on". I thought the names of your soundclips are compromised, something that is a little more common.
So, sorry for that and I'm happy you found a solution.

    Thank you for the reply.
    I do appreciate it.
You are right, I did not give enough information about my problem, and for that, I apologize.
I should have added a screenshot and maybe that would have helped.
    Thanx again.
