Mac mini 2/16GB RAM/512 GB SSD (+ externals) currently running Logic Pro 11.2.2 (all Logic are cracked)

I have been using Logic with no issues and then upgraded to 11.2.2. I experienced very sluggish response time and just in general issues so I uninstalled and then went back to 11.0. I immediately started receiving error messages if the sample library could not be found. I uninstalled and reinstalled 11.2.2 and continued getting the error about the samples when attempting to use the logic base or drums or anything outside of the alchemy samples or other logic installed third-party samples. Now, of course 11.2.2 runs great :/

I have uninstalled and reinstalled logic. I deleted plist files, I reset logic preferences and deleted the logic samples manually. my only available option at Logic>sound library is to reinstall sound library. Others are blacked out. When I attempt to reinstall I get the message about breaking the link and nothing happens. Initially the logic samples were installed on an external. I spoke to Apple and they said to do a complete OS install. I have my doubts because I think it’s reading the sample library as installed on my external which does not have an OS installed. The one thing I noticed is that I still have the third party samples like alchemy and the like. If I were to completely delete all samples, would that mess up third party plug in samples NOT installed with logic (WAVES, etc)?

Or does anyone have any other suggestions? This is really causing some frustration on my part but I would really like to avoid having to do a complete reinstall of the operating system, and or erase and reload applications and samples on my external.

any help would be greatly appreciated

In the menu bar, go to
Logic Pro ▸ Sound Library ▸ Relocate Sound Library…

Put it on an external drive. You can get rid of it, or most of it anyway. You still want to keep some so that Alchemy and other instrument plugins will work and not be annoying.

you can remove Logic Pro’s Sound Library entirely if you want to reclaim space, and Logic will still work fine. You’ll just lose the bundled sounds, loops, and samples until you reinstall them.

Also, you can redownload it at any time by reinstalling Logic. Even with the shared version you are using. This is all very easy once you have done it a couple of times before. I always have it on an external because I barely use it, but it is nicer to not have various plugins complain about missing content. Do it all from inside Logic.

Here’s how to do it cleanly and safely

OPTION 1: Delete via Logic Pro (preferred)
    1. Open Logic Pro

    2. Go to:
Logic Pro ▸ Sound Library ▸ Delete Sound Library…

    3. Choose Delete All Sound Library Content or specific components.
      • Logic will show you how much space will be freed.

      • You can always redownload later from the same menu using Download Additional Content…
    What this removes:

    • Drummer kits

    • Apple Loops

    • Alchemy, Sampler, EXS24 instruments

    • Impulse responses

    • Channel strip presets, etc.
Logic’s built-in instruments (like Retro Synth, Sculpture, etc.) will still open — they’ll just be missing factory presets or sample-based sounds.

⚙️ OPTION 2: Manually remove it (advanced)
If the menu option doesn’t appear or fails:

    1. Quit Logic.

    2. Delete these folders (some require admin password):

      /Library/Application Support/Logic/
      /Library/Audio/Apple Loops/
      /Users/Shared/Logic/
    3. Optional: also remove Alchemy data:

      /Library/Application Support/Audio Music Apps/Alchemy/
    4. Empty Trash.
Total space reclaimed can range from 20–80 GB+, depending on what you installed.

    Restoring later
If you ever change your mind:

Logic Pro ▸ Sound Library ▸ Download All Available Sounds

You can redownload everything selectively (e.g. only Drummer kits or Alchemy sounds).

I don’t mean to sound unappreciative of your reply but did you read what I wrote at all? I have done all of that.

I copied and pasted my question into ChatGPT. And this thing that has been plaguing me for 2 months that neither apple support nor any logic forum member has been able to assist with?

ChatGPT tells me it sounds like the link is corrupted. Has me go into library> application support> logic. What if I don’t have a logic folder? Create one and launch logic.

    RESOLVED. Unbelievable…

F people. Bring on the robot domination.
