I'm on Windows 11 23H2 and have noticed that in the past month or so, there have been pretty much no Windows updates, with the exception of trying to push out the 24H2 updates to me, which I keep cancelling for now.

I know there were some issues with 24H2 initially, and especially around performance in some tasks, like gaming, when compared to 23H2.

However, now 24H2 has been out in the wild for a while now, I'm just wondering if it's ready for an upgrade to yet?

PS: not looking for "go back in time and install Windows XP" type posts, but rather constructive replies specifically about Windows 11 24H2 when compared to 23H2

by now i'm convinced windows will only get worst with every new version and each update, pushing it further from environment for professional tasks and we'll have to either make peace with it, or move to linux.

it's already interrupting with my work in so many ways, it's on the edge of unbearable.

I can confirm that I bought a new computer and unfortunately the latest ISO is the latest windows 11 24h2 and I can tell you that I have so many problems! Specially with sound related, getting so many BSOD and I just hope it will be fixed because there is no way I will reinstall all my studio again. So take my advice and stay on your version for now until things will be fixed. Because for me it’s a nightmare here.

well im on 24h2 and have yet to have an issue what CPU are you running? I reckon with architecture advancements in CPUs that might be where windows coughs up a lung. i mean im on intel i7 series10 which works fine for me and i have had not one issue

Avoid 24H2 if possible. Too many problems with this update.

so far W11 23H2 works more reliably for me, so I stay away from W11 24H2 yet in production environment

you can configure Windows to remain on certain target version (while receiving regular/security updates), I use InControl app to do so - you can read through its additional technical information which explains all the registry entries that are changed

I'd politely disagree, though it depends what anyone means by professional tasks,
after seeing this monday's nVidia CES conference, Windows running WSL (Windows Subsystem for Linux) is the future where AI is integrated into computer workflows

    I'm currently running a dualboot of 2x w11 24H2 with no problems.

Both OS'es are modified and debloated after installation of OS, drivers and most recent updates, with the minor exception of one OS being AtlasOS with Windows Update still running but in a very, picky state.

If I was to run Windows 11 24H2 as is, I would've probably hang myself by now.

I doubt that they fixed their playbook. It has broken installations for me on multiple machines more than once. The OS often froze and was not fixable at all.

You'll do just fine with default AME scripts if you wanna go that way.

I installed 24h2 just last week. (ghost Spectre latest version)
And i'm happy i did. Somehow my external audio (RME) is running smoother, better......??:dunno:
Windows 10 did some strange stuff to it on almost every restart. Updated RME driver did not fix that problem.
Now that's gone. Same driver better results.

Yes, W11 has a lot of useless crap in it. But for most of us that's not a problem. It just means some extra work and googling for tweaks, drivers and/ or software. Took me about a week to get everything running smoothly.

Honestly the most annoying thing about 11 is the one thing you'll get used to quickly.......the look. And you might miss Wordpad or the standard photoviewer. But thats not a problem if you know where to look for those types of things. There's always an answer to almost every Windows related problem.

Upgrading to another windows is a tuff decision. But if you have the time and or recourses, go for it.
The main reason i did it now was that my main ssd drive died. Had to buy a new one......this was the perfect time.
If that didn't happen i would probably still be on W10,.....with that RME problem

More bugs discovered last week with 24h2 file manager, confirmed by Microsoft ...
BSOD in various apps, ALT-TAB not working, no more sounds, no more mouse cursor etc...etc...
Benefits are not worth the risk, esp for audio-related softwares.

I have 24H2 on all of my machines and havent had any struggles with anything audio related or anything else. I dont do gaming anymore so I can't speak for that aspect of this debate.
