As the title says. I have a doubt about if Cherry Audio modules, like Modular Vintage Voice Bundle, needs Voltage Modular Core, or can they be used with Voltage Modular Ignite?

It's not clearly stated at plugin boutique, nor at Cherry Audio's website.

Personal note: Really those devs should learn how to be trusted and credible for their costumers...
Imagine that you buy one of those modules packs to discover that now Ignite is not enough, you must pay 45 euros more for Core to be able to use them...

You only need the basic and free "Voltage Modular Software".

I have some packages, but the Core Bundle and everything works.

    Thank you for your answer.
So what is the use for Modular Core?

It's a bundle like the others, it contains some modules to be used inside the Voltage Modular software, but it's called "Core" so it can be misleading.

    Ah, OK, thank you.
    Yes it is misleading.

BTW, now I discover the ... how to call this... catch, trick, scam? With Cherry Audio's modules:
    1. They never state clearly that a module is mono only, so you can buy a module supposed to reproduce the sound of Roland Juno 106, but still be limited to mono patches.

    2. Even if you buy a polyphonic synth module, you will also need polyphonics modules for the outputs, evelopes etc... and that's not clearly stated when you buy this polyphonic modules.
Example, you can buy Vector Bundle which includes Poly AirWave, you cant use it as a polyphonic module until you also buy at least Voltage Modular Core.

    Complete scam IMHO

yes you have to look out for the name *Poly* mentioned clearly in the modules (or look at their jacks - they look different!)
there are converters which let you switch from poly signal to mono but of course it is not the same when you process a poly oscillator with a mono ADSR etc.
also some very crucial modules missing from *ANY* of the stuff Cherry themselves are offering:
    One example:
    https://store.cherryaudio.com/modules/poly-cv-to-midi
if you do not opt for this device you end up doing stuff like this!!!

but sure Cherry, why not be the Behringer of the digital audio world and throw any imaginable retro machine at us, while forgetting to update and maintain the only product which had something interesting and different to offer :deep_facepalm:

Even if there is a poly module in one of their pack, you will still need the poly output module.
Even some of the included presets that comes with the packs dont work if you dont have this poly output module...
That's what I call a scam, as it's not stated any where in their descriptions.

Conclusion, better go with VCV Rack Pro.

OMG this is soooo true! I started to hate them for this :snuffy:
Get this: I went into Voltage Modular when they had not a single Synth released, there was nothing except Voltage. And at that point VM was far superior to anything else, workflow and everything just crushed all contenders, VST hosting and all that was already there.
I bought a sh*tload of modules, because it seemed so obvious this is their flagship product (it was their only!!! one at the time :snuffy:) and it would be the absolute beast of modular systems.
But we know what happened: they started releasing a damn' emulation of some ancient Synth every 3 days, and practically stopped developing Voltage. F*ck 'em!

I wish I could sell all the stuff, but nobody's going to buy it :dunno:
I'm not even telling how much I paid, it's embarrassing
Btw, I'd almost be willing to trade everything for a licence of kiloHearts Convolver. I got all the kHs stuff, only Convolver's missing and I'm entirely broke these days...

Since the release of version 2 even the free version of VCVRack is by far better than VoltageModular.
And if you're missing VST/Plugin hosting there's also Cardinal

    Screw you, CurryAudio!

    huh . - .
basically everything you said applies to my experience as well
also have you noticed how nice devs like MRB or Benard just disappeard either or did not care to add anything interesting at some point...

while ago I heard some nasty stuff about how VCV handles the intellectual property of module creators, (not sure it changed) but as an end user it should not affect us much...
And as you said - Cardinal is there too!
