    I totally agree.

Apple Drivers for Windows (BootCamp) won't be supported either. If that's what you meant.

That laptop is previous gen, you 'll be better buying a new one. If the Acer on post was 1000 dlrs it would be a good deal, at 1500 you have many more newer options with 6core mobile i7 cpus. Look around.

@black bounty Laptops with desktop cpus tend to overheat and throttle. Manufacturers present them as desktop replacement workstations but they never got the "throne" so far.

    price/value/cost

if we look at a 2 year old acer predator that was 2200 new, today the value is 750 or less.

if you cannot afford a new macbook you could do this:

get a decent used one for 1500 and try it out extensively for a month or so.
if not satisfied just resell it at the same price.

then get your mentioned predator for the money, but it will not have noticeable better performance.
i7 mobile quad cores of the last years all can run significant projects rather easily

a big step are the new 6 cores, but still too new, too overpriced

After looking around I chose this bad boy. I also want to mention I got it for $800. Pretty much a steal.

    ASUS ROG Strix GL702VS-RS71 17.3" Gaming Laptop Computer - Titanium Gold MetalIntel Core i7-7700HQ Processor 2.8GHz; NVIDIA GeForce GTX1070 8GB GDDR5; 16GB DDR4 RAM; 1TB 7,200RPM Hard Drive

Of course I will be upgrading to an M.2 SSD as well.

The more impressive processor speeds and specs are necessary because most PC's run so clunky that its using the extra power to function like a normal mac. I haven't researched how well PC's with mac parallels perform yet though.

Repair shops are still able to upgrade from what I hear although the process got more complicated which raises the price of upgrade services. It really means something to me when my 2008 mac pro 8core is crushing through processor heavy audio sessions using any of the latest audio software available.

The mid to late 2012 MBpro's are still a very popular and sought after model with its interchangeable and cheap parts, and seamless software/OS compatibilities in case anyone is interested.

I know about upgrades but when software updates arent supported for older Mac that's when people get mad and make work arounds. Check my very first thread I made on AS and you will see a detailed guide on how to get a 1.1 macpro to get Yosemite or El cap.

I'll admit I'm even more intrigued by your PC venture now knowing your level. Are you going to be running Sierra on it?

Yeah I'll probably run both PC and MacOS. I love Mac but it's always fun learning new things I suppose. I guess hackintosh challenge accepted

Just beware that from time to time it is known that dual boot drives with Hackintosh/Win os's are known to get corrupted. Not always but it is being reported and i had it happen to me too, so it is better to have the os's in different drives. I think your Asus laptop can have dual drives, so don't say i didn't warn ya :)
    All the best

Sure you wanna go for a gaming notebook? You won't need the fancy gpu. So you pay more for a more noisy device.

For $800 it was a steal. I honestly don't mind the fans kicking in if needed as long as it doesn't throttle which I'm sure it won't.

But they don't do powerful laptops for "DAWers", so if you want a powerful laptop with a good price you can't help it.
It's different with desktop PCs when you can choose every piece.
