Let's say I load an istance of Kontakt and then play some notes on the Kontakt keyboard or piano roll with the mouse, well...is there a way to record the notes I'm playing with the mouse?

Thanks in advance for the answers!

as long as you don't ask if you want record midi or audio,i can anwer this :you canot record midi notes because when you hit keys with mouse you dont trig midi information, but you can record audio,by recording the output of your soundcard in any way you want or you can!!!

Press Record on your transport and as long as it is running you can input the notes with the mouse.Go to the Piano Roll and quantize if necessary.Notes will be recorded on your Kontakt selected track.Bounce the notes if you want it in audio.Hope I understood your query though. Please correct me if I'm wrong:wink:

No he has a neurodegenerative condition that makes it difficult for him to move his arms. I'm really trying to get someone to come to his place in Italy and help him write a song and one day I will make that happen. *yes*

Can I offer you a 48 hour Uploaded.net coupon? Just type yes or no, no explanation necessary.

I will look into the MultiQuote. Also soon we will get to work relaunching these forums so there will be many new features that will make your life easier. *yes*

    What about singing then?
You could use an Audio-to-Midi converter to sing what you want to play and record that as MIDI, then transpose etc.

By the way you don't have to sing well, it just has to be able to detect the melody and it's actually easier to sing a melody than put it down in MIDI because we innately know how it's supposed to sound so we keep time naturally. That's why musicians will usually play their melodies if they can so as to capture that natural feel rather than the mechanical nature of stamping in notes. Of course mechanic compositions serve their purpose too in many genres but overall.

If musical typing/virtual keyboard isn't available in S1 (or drawing notes in the piano roll editor/singing isn't an option), try http://vmpk.sourceforge.net/

How about trying Native Instruments The Mouth?
There are a few other voice to midi... if you like i can list a few.. but

One other way that i use is...
    1. hum, whistle, sing your part as audio file into studio one via a mic
    2. right click the audio part and select audio function - open with melodyne
    3. next, make a vsti track below the audio channel/track where you opened your recorded file in melodyne
    4. drag and drop the audio part into the vsti channel/track
    5. you will see that it has created a midi file out of your wave file

This process takes less time than booting studio one =)

When the vst plugin loads there is a window with options (properties), that you can configure with checkmarks. One of those checkmarks is about activating MIDI output. i think you can put the checkmark in and use the keyboard on the plugin as an input device, and the DAW will recieve and record it. I also know for sure you can use the virtual keyboard of the piano roll of the DAW and record it. Same type of thing. A virtual MIDI keyboard for recordable input. *yes*
