Hi guys
I prefer without software, I would like to download audio files with high quality from soundcloud (no mp3), Is there a way to do that?

Last time I checked, you can download the average MP3 at least. And if the author provides the possibility, wav ( maybe FLAC) format.
I don't remember the details and I always use download tools.

 

What download tools do you use? for high quality?

 

You can record though a loopback. Check if you interface supports loopbacks or you can get something like Audacity.

Though it is all kind of pointless as the soundcloud player doesn't play high bit rate audio, it plays medium bit-rate mp3. So if there is an option to download mp3 you are not going to get any more than that when recording for yourself.

If the uploader chooses soundcloud will allow you to download whatever source they uploaded WAV or MP3 or whatever.

 

Sad, It seems that there's no way to do what I want (because soundcloud is medium or low quality)
Then Is there a way to decompress a mp3 to convert it to wav? Could you explain me that please? Idk anything about audio encoding/compressing.

 

The funny part with some music-for-sale sites is that they ask for lossless and convert the demonstrations to lossy and adding to that, as you explained in detail in another thread, change the LUFS. While people understand they cannot change for one person and not another, the issue with generic levelling in some music is that sometimes, it does not sound how the creator/author intended, therefore being not a true representation of the music they uploaded. Not very often, but it does happen.

Converting lossy to lossless means theoretically you then have a lossless lossy file - That is it does not reverse. It means whatever the quality of the MP3 or compressed file is when you convert it to wav or flac will now be lossless at that quality (of the MP3). It doesn't miraculously put back everything lost by compressing it unfortunately.

Soundcloud lives in the past: 128k mp3 is inadmissible in 2021. The only option you have is to ask the owner of the account to send a link with an uncompressed file
I had various of these requests for my songs on soundcloud account and I'm happy to send them the bandcamp link in flac

 

I remember the option of uploading WAV (lossless) quality, but was only an option. Isn't there anymore? Or perhaps you have to pay premium stuff

On the supplier when it occurs you'd think so - They ask for lossless and the formats they then offer to the purchaser include lossy. If they asked the supplier and importantly told them they would do that, they may not have got the degree of suppliers many have. Nobody who willingly buys a CD these days wants MP3's on it unless that is what it says it is. They expect 44.1K lossless.

 

No, I mean you could upload a wav for being downloaded untouched.
Again it's been ages but I think it could be done.

Edited: it's the option "direct download" when you upload something. But I don't know if this affect the quality. I guess with my lame short tracks wav is not a problem

This is what Ambar wants to. He wants to convert to wav on the fly.

I have installed a plugin in FireFox for SoundCloud downloads. I will check the name of it after my work.

 

I decided to search so nobody thinks any of us are telling porkies... While there are probably comprehensive explanations that go into the finer details of exactly what is lost when you convert from FLAC or WAV to MP3 and compressed formats - This answers the attempts to convert back from compressed while not perfect, definitely answers adequately.
