I got a chance until the 14th to upgrade to Soundtoys V5.3 for $179. Do you guys (or gals) thinks it's worth it based on your experience? Echoboy Jr is growing on me and I would like to see what all the fuss is about with this Decapitator plug-in. Plus, my singing sucks so I could T-Payne my way through tracks with Altar Boy. But maybe I can do the same with other plugins?

 

I'm still using my Soundtoys bundle from like 2012 or 2014, I forget... I did the total bundle so have everything including the rack system (which is awesome). I will be honest, I used the bundle on EVERYTHING back in those days... but a few years ago I found sister site and and the soundtoys got lost in my list... I loved primal tap, crystalizer and echoboy all in one chain in the fx rack and would make insane lush ambient pads.. hsit now I wanna use these again just thinking about this

 

Very hard question.
ST plugins all sound very good ... but how many alternatives sound as good ?

How do you not have Decapitator in your Bundle? It was released back in 2010.
I bought Effect Rack on last Black Friday and am fully satisfied with it.
Instead of Little Alterboy I just use pirated Waves Vocal Bender.

I bought the whole bundle (version 5) second hand for 110 euros or something. At this point it looks like they're trying to milk their clients.

 

I have some legit soundtoys plugs and they offer me to upgrade for €229!!?

 

I got the few ST plugins I have on Black Friday as well. I bought a few for $29. Primal Tape, MicroShift and Echo Boy Jr are great. Little Plate, meh. TSAR-1 kicks it's ass.

For distortion I use a hardware unit - OTO Machines BOUM. For software I use the HG-2 I got for free when Soundwide as giving it away.

I passed on the 'updgrade offer'. if they blow out Altar Boy on Black Friday, I might pick it up, but I think I'm done with Soundtoys.

 

Little AlterBoy is only a pitch/formant shifter, not a full fledged auto-tune plug-in. Definitely a great plug-in still Even though the Soundtoys plug-ins might seem a bit old they are still superb plug-ins!
