For years I've been installing with the 2.0.3 version and updating from there but I recently saw a post here that said you should be starting from 2.5.0 at minimum, so I downloaded that version which is 30+gb bigger than the one I have, but I'm just thinking that really the only reason to install from a different version would be if the vst3 version is not available with the 2.0.3 download. I've been using it for years but I just can't remember and I haven't been able to figure it out anywhere else so I thought I'd check here.

Use the original "dvd" versions from Dynamics group, and then the very latest update you can. I use legit Omnisphere, my Steam installation is on a non-system disk. When I reinstall from scratch, all I use is the newest update and it works perfect. That is because all the content you need is in the update installer. Other than the original "core library", which is Steam. Whoever posted that you need to do an incremental installation method is wrong.

 

They didn’t say I need to do an incremental update, they were saying if installing from scratch it should be 2.5.0 and update from there. So if I just use the regular 2.0.3 dvd version, when I update to the latest version it will update/create a vst 3 version?

 

There is a 56 gb Core Library installer for Omnisphere, which is version 2.8. Use that one if you want, people have said it works fine. Why would it not include VST3 plugin format? The only other currently still supported format is AU. It doesn't matter what is previously installed, when you install the latest version the plugins will overwrite the old ones during the Software installation. If it is not there, it will be installed. You will still need the newest installer with the actual software.
