For example I just want to automate the dry/wet. I'd like it start at 0, and when I hold down a key on the keyboard the dry/wet rises until 100% or if I stop. Once I stop, it cuts back to 0%.

Is there any way to map this?

It's pretty much just like a knob. I don't have a midi controller atm, but would like to add an automation where I can physically hold or press something which will allow me to control effects such as delay, reverb, filter, etc. Think of like the spacebar becomes the know for the filter. You hold it the filter increases, you let it go, the filter reverts back to its normal parameters.

    Thanks.

Hey, anything MIDI mappable can be mapped to a peramater. But to have a peramater that engages when pressed and then releases when you take your finger off you need a MIDI controller with a "toggle" mode, for example certain drum pads do this.

Yes you can.. I'm doing it now. Insert an ableton reverb and click on the "key" on the top right that enables key map, now choose a parameter and choose a letter on the kbd, right-click on the parameter and enable edit key map, a window on the left pops up and choose min max, when you press the key you have min to max

Yeah what angie said, you can use your keyboard as a MIDI switch to control anything as you would with MIDI. I thought you meant you wanted something that you "hold down" turns on and then "let go" and turns off. A Key or a normal switch will press down to engage and press down again to dis engage.

you say you are doing it "right now".. so, just as op described, you press the associated/mapped computer keyboard key, and the dry/wet value actually increases?.. in other words... you press the keyboard key and it DOES NOT yield a static value, but actually rises?..

I did not know this was possible. How do you adjust the rate at which it rises from 0% to 100%?

Yes dim.. the change of the parameter is immediate of course. No way to choose a rise time. The method proposed by Alpha0ne is interesting, but I think that an inexpensive MIDI controller is a must!!

It should be possible - although I didn't find a quick solution.
The two m4l devices that come with ableton (envelope follower+envelope) don't allow it.
All the devices I checked on maxforlive.com don't have a synthlike envelope feature that sustains until keyrelease. They simply fire the envelope no matter how long you press the key.

Maybe check http://maxforlive.com/index.php yourself and see if you find something.
