Is Cakewalk by BandLab Really Free?

    just installed it because my project was choking out on X3...same old Sonar, but runs better and doesnt crash
    im in :)

    i installed it twice, on my top and on my desktop. the latter on a few weeks ago.
    i've had no problems whatsoever. i even uninstalled the Bandlab download manager or whatever it's called.
    i was just curious to see what you get for a freebie. it seems to me that what you have here is Cakewalk not Sonar. i could be wrong, i've never used sonar. if it is cakewalk then it makes a kind of sense it would be free...

    it is Sonar...Cakewalk was just the company name
    i see practically no difference from X3 except for appearance and it runs better :)

    I found the opposite so i went back to sonar

    Bandlab had Cakewalk and now also Sonar. Cakewalk is free. Sonar is a paid DAW.

    Edit: It seems like the Sonar advertised at the Bandlab site does not even exist, and the new Cakewak is the old SONAR.:deep_facepalm:

    Sonar is not available anymore. Cakewalk by BandLab is exactly the same DAW as Sonar Platinum, just free and without third party plug-ins (Melodyne, Addictive Drums, etc.), because they are not free, obviously.
