I checked out Harley Benton, very interesting ...
But I checked in my country that there are no distributors selling it ... Too bad ...

Even though I am very interested in this :
    https://www.thomann.de/intl/id/harley_benton_hbb1975_na.htm
    and this :
    https://www.thomann.de/intl/id/harley_benton_enhanced_mj_4mn_natural_bundle.htm

Cort for low budget can be said to be quite good .... Cort GB35a has a push pull system that can switch the bass to passive mode or active mode ...

Maybe if you don't mind, you can share with me your production music via PM ...

Your guess is almost correct ...

I haven't watched the anime yet, but I've seen the Live Action version ... It's so funny ....

    You will ...

    Yeah ... :mates:
What VSTi drums do you use?

Hopefully the Starter Thread has made a decision ...

If you are married, just do not take one to bed with you. Most other things will be forgiven because otherwise, they'll think you love the bass more than them. Even if you do love the bass more, just do not take it to bed with you. It is potentially fatal.

Damn that sucks they don't ship to your country.
Oh that's really cool. One of my basses is active & the other is passive, I don't have any cool switches on them. Just have to plug it into the amp accordingly.
Sure man, I'll be wrapping up something new soon actually.
It's always hard to find good kits that are complete as is that fit what I need specifically so I always tend to mix certain parts of kits out as I imagine most of us do.

I use BFD3, KVLT Drums (because they are so tastefully shitty)
I'm also dicking around with Superior Drummer 3 to see if it's greener on that side or maybe I just need 2 lawns altogether in the end, I'll see.

Of course it is dude it's probably the best investment... you can cheap out on it and still get great sounds that are natural and human.

Yep with some practice and an entry level Squire you can already lay down some decent basslines easier & faster than you can program them with your mouse. It will be so much more fun & rewarding too.

If you play your cards right then you can have that cheaper too, especially if you go second hand.

Nowadays you can buy brand new clones of real basses for the low because companies are going all Behringer on us & thank fuck they are because I'm not trying to fork out an organ for an instrument!

For cheap basses, check Sire Marcus Miller line.
M2 (kinda modern bass) is 350 euros, passive / active, good sound.
V3 (kinda Jazz bass) also 350 euros, passive/ active, good too

With these, you will avoid problems that Harley Benton and cheap Cort have, like neck dive, poor electronic, etc...

Damn they have those problems? I know wima just said his Cort did. I assumed they were fine because most of the reviews I've been seeing look good. But I only heard good things from the Marcus Miller line & those are affordable too.

Reviews, pfff, most of them are superficial.
Have you ever seen a review with the guy sitting with the bass and releasing it?
Some will say, standing with a strap it's well balanced.
If you play a lot, you end up playing sitting, and with cheap Cort models your right hand will spend energy in sustaining the bass, instead of being precise.
I have an old Cort GB75 which does not have this problem, but all recent models I've tried , specially the DLX models, are badly balanced. Also the electronic is not flexible enough.
But Sire Marcus Miller share the same electronic and have a good lutherie (making).

I should also have mentioned Yamaha's cheap range, which is impressively good for the price. Their TRBX 304 or 305 models are well made and quiet flexible soundwise.

So true, which is why I usually look & search for negative ones. Those could also be swept under a rug too, understandably.
    Good point lmfao!
The problem lots of Les Paul's had with the neck tilts & off balance.
Phenomenal point, I'm so glad I don't have these issues but this would mess with your wrist.
Thanks for the heads up, I will be looking for a new bass in the near future as well. I've heard only good praise about Marcus Miller basses. I'm looking at some LTD, Warwick, Ibanez & Musicman models at the moment.
Back when I played some Yamaha models at a store, I had no gripes with them. Plus my friend had one & we both agreed we loved it. Thanks for the shout & the generally great advice. Appreciate you!

@Olymoon What other basses do you recommend & have? Very interested!

    Hi Donut, how are you?
Actually I was looking for a distributor, because it's easier than shipping ...

    Thank you ... Can't wait ...

I see ... I don't really know KVLT, but just now I went to the homepage and heard the demo ... Maybe it sounded a bit raw to my ears ...
Superior Drummer, I've tried it and because the size is too big, I tried it with the add on from EZ Drummer ...
All my productions use BFD3 on drums actually ... Maybe because I'm used to it ...

    Hi Oly, how are you?
    Marcus Miller line?
You mean the Marcus Miller brand? Or Sire?
I used to borrow my friend's Sire bass a few times ... And the sound is great ... Sire V3 I think ...
And I'm really saving my money to buy Sire M2 ...

    Agree ...

Actually Cort GB35a has many shortcomings ... Not neat in finishing until the push pull knob is easy to release ... The default pickup is actually very lacking ... But because the Bass has lots of memories, maybe that's what makes me accept its many shortcomings. ..

I personally want to buy the Sire brand if my money is more ...
Or if one day a friend of mine sells his second Musicman, I will buy it ...

I love Humbucker pick up bass actually ...
Suit my music genre production ...

I totally agree with your opinion ...
    Ohh I just remembered ...
I had time to enter this name in the list of basses that I will buy:
Squier Vintage Modified Jazz Bass 70s
Even though it is single coil, but I like the character ... What do you think for beginners?

For a beginner a Fender Squire Jazz Bass might be a good start as it is easier to play being a medium scale instrument and in addition has many sounds that can be coaxed out of it with it's active pickups and blend knob.

    Fine thank you.
Yes Sire is the brand, Marcus Miller is the line, now, for guitars they have a Larry Carlton line too... this one: https://sire-usa.com/

Yes, I tried one, and really badly finished, sound not so bad, but balance horrible ...
And in Europe, it cost the same as a Sire Marcus Miller V3

Interesting, but I can't tell as I never tried one, and I dont like to speak about what I dont truly know.

If you have enough money, I cant recommend enough Sandberg basses, I got an old Sandberg "Basic" , after 15 years, it's like new, pots, bridge, everything, the sound is very flexible, and luthery perfect ... Also, Maruszczyk does excellent basses, if you want bass porn, look here: https://www.public-peace.de/

As for the SIRE Marcus Miller basses, here's Victor Wooten playing one with a band. Somehow I cannot see him playing a crap bass.
I've played one and for the small amount of money for what it gives back in tone and craftsmanship, you won't get any better. For under $1,000 anywhere, many people do not expect to get a bass that sounds as good.
6-way preamp is good too. I like the 4-string because they kept close to the narrow neck and feel of earlier jazz basses.

Hey, man doing well. Thanks for asking! How about yourself?
That's definitely true, I'm also very afraid of having an instrument shipped because I don't want to find it in pieces on the front porch.

Yes, that's what I meant by KVLT being deliciously shitty. It works very well for shitty DIY black metal tapes. That kit is on the raw side on purpose, it's supposed to sound like ass lol

I think that's probably the same case for me, I'm trying some stuff on the side but I always revert back to good ole BFD3.

I see, I thought Cort had high praise too, but it may have been the older models like Oly says.
Yeah my Ibanez bass has humbuckers. I like them a lot.

I will check ... Is there an official distributor in my country ... I mean for Larry Carlton line ...
Thank you for the information ...

That's right ... The worst is when using a combination of the pick up bridge and the pick up neck ... It feels very weak ...

In my country, Cort GB35a is cheaper than Sire ... At that time I bought a new one for IDR 2300000 or around EUR 134.20 ... When comparing with the price of Sire at that time, for someone like me at that time added again around EUR 58 to EUR 60 is very significant and takes a long time ...
I had a GB35a around 2012, and at that time I hadn't even heard of the Sire brand bass because of my limited internet access at that time ...

But this time maybe I will buy a Sire bass whenever possible and enough for my money ...

Is the secondhand Sire still worth it?

    Right ...
What bass do you have Oly besides Cort and Sandberg?

I used to have a Prince brand bass and lost it in my yard when I came home at night ... I forgot to bring it in that night and ... Boom ... The next morning I saw there was none in my room and I remember leaning it on the front wall of my house ... When I check on it, it was gone ... :suicide:

    ===========

I'm good and after cooking now, thank you ...

In my country Cort is quite cheap ...
Ibanez is ok ... But maybe I'll buy a Sire when the time comes ...

I like Ibanez, especially their higher tiers like BTB. They are extremely versatile basses imo. Easily can get Jazz, Funk, Soul, Reggae, Rock, Punk & Metal tones out of it depending on what I want to play. Plenty room for versatile tone with the tone pots, especially with more than 4 strings if you're into that sort of thing.

I definitely think you should get the Sire. I would especially for that price. I'm going to be buying another 4 string at some point soon myself actually. The Marcus Miller lines being something I considered as well.

Here, you can see all distributors of Sire, they are the same for Larry Carlton guitars than for Marcus Miller Basses, as Sire is the main company.

Yes it is, I have an M7 first gen bought second hand, and it's like new.

I had a lot of basses, but at some point I decided to limit my "stable". So Actually I only have, aside of the mentioned basses, a Marcus Miller M7, an old and surprisingly good Aria Pro II, and a Yamaha TRB 1005 J. All fivers.
I'm willing to get a Marcus Miller V7 Vintage Swamp Ash-5 NT 2, which are hard to catch here.
