 Actually i'm really pissed with Apple because of their sHiTTy upgrade policies, discriminating users of older MAC OS! + Their forcing (like AViD does) developers to implement so many different Plug-In formats & codes in their products. :snuffy:

Wishing back the old days where everything was much easier!

I'm a dedicated Mac user since 1986, and I'm grateful for Apple's long-term support and commitment to the professional creative communities. But you have to be realistic here. Apple can deny all it wants - the same corporate brain trust that runs the company now is sending out evangelists to try to stem the hemorrhage of FCP users dismayed with the toy that's replaced FCP7. I was in on one such meeting at the media school at the college where I teach - it was an embarrassment. But the writing was on the wall long before FCPX was released. At least two years previously, Quicktime player X suddenly had no option to display timecode. And other pro apps have been gradually stripped of features that someone deemed too technical or too messy. Slowly but surely, Apple has been undertaking a covert process of dumbing down its product line for several years now. At the OS level, you can't help but see it when you compare Mountain Lion to Snow Leopard, for example.

The sad reality is that Apple has tasted massive success in the consumer market, and they like it. iPhone-level sales are now where the performance bar is set within the company, and this is not good news for media professionals. Apple has dumped pro video and film, and they will dump pro audio and music, at least those applications demanding more R&D than will satisfy the weekend hobbyist. I'm sure they'd rather not lose us, but they're no longer willing to make the development investment it takes to compete with Avid, Steinberg, Adobe et al. We have already lost the MacPro line - they're just hoping it will take a bit longer for the pro world to notice - hence the lukewarm speed bump they gave the line last summer, the minimal effort they could make just to dispel the rumours of its demise for another year or so before we realize the long-awaited new tower just isn't coming. Eventually, recording studios, post houses, broadcasters, design facilities - they'll all go over the windows or linux, since only a PC will accommodate the high-performance cards the industry requires. And those that don't need card slots may stay on OSX, but Apple's pro applications will fall away once they've managed to milk the last money they can get from us.

Sorry to have to say it, but Apple's primary market is now distracted teenagers and soccer moms. Those of us in the pro market are seen in the Apple boardroom as a regrettable but manageable loss. Our numbers are such that in the bigger picture at Apple, we just aren't worth the effort.

I wish there would be way more developers working on open source DAW's, lots of advantages to it:
No more dead DAWs: just go and maintain the code.
Fast bug fixes: Anyone can fix the bugs, and the main devs can focus on the big features.
Want a new feature? Come and code it yourself.
Hate the GUI? Kook might be working on a better one!

Only problems are the skill and time it takes to make a decent DAW...

Kook, you shouldn't be amazed. At all. This is and it has ALWAYS been Apple's policy: they forced users to switch from Motorola's 68K series to IBM PowerPC. They did the same again from PowerPC to Intel. They didn't, don't and won't have the word "compatibility" in mind (as in the Windows or Linux worlds), just because it's a sure way to get lots of money from updates; "Ohhh... look at the new mac... how nice! many of my current software will not work, but... ohhh it's so nice I will buy it anyway... and I'll also get all required software updates". This is how it works. Simple. Just a matter of money.

Entering the Apple world means: pay, pay and pay. Yes, it's cool. It sure is. But you *PAY* it. Several times.

BTW: I remember, va few years ago, laughing at a guy who bought (through an official Apple Store) a hard disk; just the same brand and model I had just got for me a week before. But he paid it about 25% more expensive than me. When I told him: "it's the *same* one, even manufactured in the same factory, and you could get it cheaper in a PC shop!". He said: "No way!. Mine is better. I got it in an Apple Store!. If it's more expensive, it's better!". No comments... :P

Best wishes, Kook... Forza Italia!!! :)

[And I would also love to see Logic for iPad... YES!!!]

Users want new softwares but don't want to update their OS ....

You can always stay with your old os and your old softwares you know, they will work for ages.
