    Hello all,

I installed the NOIRE Kontakt library and its great but HOW in the hell when I used my MIDI controller, it sounds cheap but when I click on the notes in the virtual keyboard, it sounds AMAZING...

What is that all about?? am I missing something?

That'll be your midi controller's velocity curve. Depending on what you use, it can be adjusted internally, via the manufacturers app or in your daw.

Sounds like there's a problem with your midi controller and release setting. You might not be catching the beautiful tail of those notes.

Most of the times, this is due to your contrôler sending too much velocity.
    What controller are you using?

I also added the Kontakt NOIRE sound to a midi track and "ewwww", it did not sound good either. I am puzzled.

You think velocity 127 sounds amazing, because it's loud? I'm confused.
Maybe you should max out your velocity curve (on your MIDI controller) and just play 127 all the time.

record your midi notes with it, and check at which velocity they are recorded, play very low, then middle, then hard, so you will know the midi dynamic range of your keyboard. From there, you can adapt it to the plugin.

According to this article, it's really straightforward to adjust the velocity curve on your m-audio controller. All you got to do is locate/download your user manual and follow the instructions (Page 109) therein... :deep_facepalm:

i think its probably the opposite, not enough velocity being sent.

either way, @binarycoders once you have done the tests suggested above, even if you cant adjust the velocity curve on yuor MIDI keyboard you can still do it in kontakt or edit the library (probably a lot of work).

    Hey guys,

I did pretty much everything that you guys suggested, but it still doesn't quite sound the same. I am not really talking about loudness, it just does not sound the same. When I click on the virtual keyboard, it sounds bold, big and real, but when I play on the controller, totally different. Freaking weird.... ugh

Could it be the quality?? I am playing at 48000.. I do not think it is.

Did you try what was suggested here: recording midi from the controller? Tell us what velocity values are for the played notes.

what do you mean by it was fixed? you played back the recorded MIDI and it was ok?
if so, list a few velocity values of the recorded notes.

it sounds like a very odd problem, you should have the same results playing MIDI direct as you get when playing back the recording of that same MIDI.
if you are getting different results it means that something is happening to the MIDI data between the recording stage and the input to the synth, which is extremely unlikely, at least i have never seen that before in my life.
