which to choose?

2650v2 (8c / 16th - 2.6 ghz)
16 GB of RAM = 4x4 GB DDR3 1600 mhz

2620v3 (6c / 12th - 3.2 ghz)
16GB RAM = 2x8GB DDR4 2400MHz

DAW = FLStudio20 - using 15 to 25 channels
for common projects, but with heavy plug-ins (Izotope-Neutron3, Ozone9, nectar3 ...)

The E5-2650 only boosts to 3.0 (not 3.2). Also the maximum supported memory speed is DDR4 2133 ECC (DDR3 1866 ECC for V2) in sets of 4 or 8.

The E5-2650 V4 supports DDR4 2400 ECC and has a 2.2GHz base, 2.9GHz boost.

Unless you are getting a refurbished system with warranty at an excellent price, I would suggest you consider a more modern processor even in dual channel (i7, i9).

1. just (xeon E5-2620 V3) i can can enable turbo boost for all cores! 2.4GHz >> 3.2GHz all cores

2. I have only these 2 options! "it's a set of things" (for the same price)

Most new software only works on i3, i5 or i7 CPU's. Do yourself a favour and upgrade. Win7 still works on the i-Series, but less and less 'new' software is still working on Win7.

Best bite the bullet and use Win19 with W10Privacy or make a Hackintosh.

Not true very very FEW software is NOT working with Win 7 for plugins i think i have seen 3-5 so far for Daw,s i havent tried the newer Cubase versions so i wouldnt know about that Daw or >Pro Tools but all other Daw work like a charm
For software i have installed many software that say Win 10 only 2-3 is not working.
I gonna keep my Win 7 as long as i can exactly as i did with XP.
Hopefully Microsoft has released another Daw than that crappy 10 when that day come.

 

Do you REALLY think the next version will be better? Win10 is FULL of Spyware, backdoors and telemtry. It can only get worse. MUCH worse

 

I currently use (xeon x3430 - 4c/4th 2.4ghz) windows10 and flstudio20.
I can do my projects without any problems!

hadnt these xeon mobos not always 2 xeon cpu's slots ?

 

if you're not on rush.. athlon 3000g + a320m mobo .. + ddr4 .. for just a bit more price like ~$150.. u can search around web.. plus its current and future proof so you can easily replace upgrade cpu/ram as need.. stay hold for what you have atm.. keep adding ure money cuz its worth time investment to wait for.. i use to be on hp laptop zacate win 7 year 10 ago.. from amd zacate 500gb hdd noisy fan i'm now a bit on present time with cheap budget amd ryzen 3 build + os on nvme 1 tb + ssd & hdd 2 tb and 4x8ram ddr4.. its ugly not top notch but i'm able to do what i cant with modern plugins on my old laptop.. it's worth time to wait abit for such build cuz you only have one shot do not miss your miss chance to grow this oppurtunity comes once in a lifetime... that's eminem lyric btw but i think you'll get the point #havefun #justsuggestion
