    I guess everyone's OK with 140W TDP :wow: :( .
    Intel stopped manufacturing passive cooled CPUs with 1-3W TDP, which were really great. Today the PC industry is more about envy, fashion money and power, rather than efficiency, long shelf life, and excitement. Yep, that last one - that's what missing, the WOW factor of a new PC, like in the Commodore 64 era. :bleh:
    The components costs less, but the quality suffers.

    Seems a wise thing to do, 14nm is getting insanely small, I wonder how far they can go? And why didn't they just start small in the first place :rofl:

    Research and development. The answer to that lies in the move to 3D transistors which allow them to fit more transistors on each chip. Moore's law had them at an impasse so they had to build up in order to meet the challenges of fitting more and more transistors on an ever decreasing surface area.
