if i install a new version of ableton in an existing folder then will it just update or will it delete the old files as well? and will any saved files get replaced?

especially the resources folder

my library, packs, vst are all located in a folder outside the ableton one.

i am installing 10.1.9
currently i have 10.0.3

in my experience the app gets replaced. i usually rename it in case I need to go back. in your case id name it 10.1.

 

i dont wish to make another folder and have 2 versions.. but if it does replace then what does it replace/delete? just the main folder or even the installed packs and stuff?

i wouldnt be uninstalling the previous version but just installing over it in the same folder

 

Just update it. It just updates what needs to be updated on its software side foldres in places, your presets, plugins, packs, and projects are safe
