?

Are you really interested in a tutorial about inNKX? The hardest part is to install it.

    On my way.
Yes, it's main use is to pack samples in nkx containers.

Does this mean we can change the awful background of the interface in Spitfire's Hans Zimmer Piano?

    Very funny
Cool. First time I modify an .nkr file. Pass me whatever pic you want in and I'll use that one.

Edited: this is the original, you can use it as a template if only for the dimensions and stuff

Ok, please give me some time to fiddle with it. Can you change shapes too? (Just so it's not so much work, maybe I could "design" or you some more traditional knobs, even white/black/gray circles with a different circumference color is so much better than what they design, honest to god I don't know what were/are they thinking. :P

You caught me off guard, as I already resigned to the idea I was stuck with the ugly interface :P Specially those HZ letters, they look 8-bit 360' resolution 1920's era (I am in a 4k TV, lol).

Cheers mate, have a nice weekend.

Yeah, everything in Kontakt GUIs is made with images(and in many other apps, especially cross-platform). So you can change pretty much anything as long you respect the original size. Including Kontakt's controls, BTW. Just like I changed the Kontakt "About" picture as a joke in the first video-tut. When I say images I mean "bitmap images", like photos. As opposed to vector images that can be freely rotated and scaled by nature.

The problem with the "moving" parts (knobs, faders,..), is that you have to make a picture for every possible angle/position. So you need some designing skills. Web designers are used to this too.

The difficult part is not to design a knob. It's to automate the process to generate these rotated versions.

This is an example from the same HZimmer library (only an small part of a knob):

Keep in mind this is only the moving part. There's a pretty background image below and the black is transparent in practice.

Xupito, do you have the 2 original files? I was sure I only had 1 file from the 2 you "sent" me, and so I had a backup of one, but the other one was new so no backup, but now no matter what I can't go back to not having the X :P Please help me out, cheers.

    There you go:
    https://mega.nz/#!7ZJTRYpa!qYYPRIyE6BQAP8v5ZW0RFqi6OGCCc-hSKq6GGqjBd7o

This library seems to be a compilation of individual ones (and/or perhaps with expansions too). The only two files with the background I touched (which they are identical, but I'm talking only of the wallpaper pic) are these two.

Xupito, thank you very much for complying :mates:
Weird thing is that unless I use HZP_2016_01_06.nkr with the X, the GUI won't display at all.

If you could indulge me, could you edit the X out and then send me the file? I know in other words
you could send me the original one, because they should be the same, but perhaps the processed one
will help me out to show the GUI again?
And since I swear HZP_2015_01_04.nkr was never there in my folder originally, I tested if I needed in order
to show the GUI but so far I don't need that one (or Kontakt doesn't seem to need it to display the GUI with the X).

I am sorry to bother you Xupito, but can you imagine me asking Spitfire for the original files? Or having to download 198 Gigabytes again?
    :woot:

    Thanks so much Xupito :)

Weird indeed... try resaving the library instruments with the original nkr in its place and the modified one nowhere near.
Nkr files also have nkc files that index them, and nkc files are re-generated when you resave instruments. Perhaps that'll do the trick. Let me know.
Remember that there are two different .nkr files that have that background pic. The ones I uploaded.

One thing I always do, especially if I'm going to mess with a library, is to backup everything but the samples first (all but nkx, wav, ncw, nks) . I even have a WinRar profile for that.

Hahahahaha  You're funny too, nice.

Fixed it. I deleted like 3 files from root folder (where the nict is located), I compared my files to a torrent's,
(mine is legit) so I was experimenting and even the Script files replacement didn't do a thing.
(Namely: ._Documentation ._Instruments ._Scripts ._Hans Zimmer Piano.nict, those didn't come within the torrent)

    Sometimes pc's do weird things...

(sorry, didn't have time to test your suggestion, but THANKS so much Xupito).

What I've found it's really annoying from the GUI is that the "tag"? you know the left pane of Kontakt, the image ust
reads: H Z P in black text (perfectly readable, not jagged) and SPITFIRE in white (also perfectly readable),
BUT, in the instrument image (right pane of Kontakt) the HANS ZIMMER text, plus hZp, plus PIANO it's totally "unreadable"
and jagged. Oh, plus the BIG "LOGO" in white HZP in the middle. The rest I can live with since it's still readable perfectly.

    So everything works now?

As for the lame background image (you're right, it sucks), like I told you I can replace it without problems. I'm no graphic designer that's why I uploaded it before so you or, for instance, one of the artists we have in this forum that usually make wallpapers can make a nice one.

And then I put it into the two nkr files and I send them to you. Do you want me to make an attempt? I mean, not putting an ugly X

Edited: there you go, logos removed, at least your eyes won't bleed with that top-left logo
    https://mega.nz/#!yRICHYAa!sgjhym8SwkflGY0W1_FGAdy81lEwkGtwoDJbFAL6s1g

Edited2: I didn't read you only have one nkr file. I'll keep that in mind

Well, that is so neat mate. THANKS Xupito. Now, if you had the time, could you replace what you erased with a similar font but "legible"? (in other words not jagged). I feel they did the text then enlarged it as an image, and that is a no no. If "you" make something specially text, if you are gonna
resize it, it should be down so it's not jagged. :P

You're welcome. I could do it but, believe me, it's better that you do it at your taste. You, any pal with some design skills.
Remember I uploaded the background image so anyone can modify it at your taste and then you send it to me and I update the nkr.
I can upload the one I made deleting the logos.
