i was attempting to source electronic components for a guitar pedal build yesterday and a lot of the parts i need are backordered until late summer - early fall with all suitable replacements all sold out as well. one of my favorite local suppliers just went out of business as well. not loving it

It's time for a 3 D printer. Actually, we should be able to produce spare parts ourselves. I wish you that the part arrives soon.

@BEAT16 Inflation and deflation are usually only the byproduct of market shifts. A war, market crash or pandemic always leads to a strong shift in the end result. But in this case, there is also an underlying ideological shift that acts like a catalyst, to put it soberly and moderator-friendly. So congratulations, we are fucked...

@BEAT16 and @Sinus Well please, keep this thread on topic. It's about chip manufacturers raising prices, not about German economy history.

Europe wants to catch up with Asian countries in semiconductor production and eliminate supply bottlenecks. In some EU countries, car production has already been cut by a third because computer chips are in short supply. Digital cameras, laptops or medical equipment have long delivery times. This makes the EU painfully aware of how dependent it is on Taiwan and South Korea in particular, which are leaders in the production of technically sophisticated chips.

Intel plans to build eight new state-of-the-art chip factories in the European Union for a total of 80 billion euros - 70 percent of which will come from its own funds. By the end of the year, it should be clear exactly where. But TSMC, Samsung and others are also investing heavily in research and production.

China also produces neon gas, the price has quadrupled per square meter recently.
Since 2014 neon gas went up 600%.
Most audio gear will go up in price and if you want to get one of those Behringer clones do it now, they probably can not even reorder the older clones any more.
It could take years before things normalize.

Oops, i overlooked the word "chip" in the headline.
Still, it's a shame you deleted the chocolate bar comment, as it also applies to electronic goods and chip manufacturing. :dunno:

Unfortunately, even after I asked to keep this thread on topic, too much comments are off topic/ political.
It's hard to speak about inflation without politic...
