And you are making what, hip hop? That's on a grid.
Just because you are giving your beat a ''groove'' doesn't mean you aren't still in 4/4.

I do drum and bass mostly and use old vinyl breakbeats as well, and while everything is in 4/4, all my hits don't just go on the downbeat.

In fact not even techno just puts everything on the down beat anymore its not 2010 people know how to give groove to a stale beat.

Pretty much every plug-in sampler has good transient detection now, Audio Modern uses zynaptiq for transient detection and time stretching algorithm.

I think your best bet is either Serato sample although it isnt a sample manager as well, or like others have said before Loopcloud but just use it without subscription and load your own loops in the browser.
I use loopcloud and it even automatically tags your samples and loops making it super easy to search with

Mostly Hip Hop, some Neo Soul, RnB and Funk too. Well yeah, it's on a grid, but maybe an ever changing one. Let's say one bar is 75 bpm another is 79, same drum track. It's very common. Also, there is a lot of space in a 1/32 grid, where a good drummer can deliberately place notes within a single bar. They don't need to be on that grid. I can tell you, many people making music still use Recycle to slice up their drum- and percussion-loops and make rex files a lot. Because if you don't slice everything exactly on the 0-crossingpoints right before every single transient with very high accuracy, you're going to hear clicks and other unwanted shit when changing tempo. Or you'll have to reach for degrading methods to avoid that, which kill your transients and degrade quality in various ways.

None of all the plugins you mention combine a good browser, a good tagging system, audition in sync, various good stretching algorithms, automatically and manually slicing loops with high precision and then put your slices to individual outputs. Nothing on the market can do all that, as far as i can see. It would save me and others a lot of time, if there was such a plugin, that's for sure.

But you're right, Serato Sample and Loopcloud at the moment seem to be a fairly reasonable combination to achieve what i'm talking about. Serato Sample doesn't work too well for me though, because it is limited to 16 slices. I would just love to see one single, well made plugin for all this loop related stuff. Say, the browsing, searching and auto-tagging of Sononym combined with the slicing and stretching capabilities of Maschine and the easy per slice output routing of New Sonic Arts Vice. It's hard to argue, that this wouldn't make life a lot easier for some of us...

geist2 would be perfect. but sometimes it crashes with too long files.
