    SYSTEM IMAGE BACKUPS

In Windows 7 Microsoft provides the ability for one to create a system image backup. For those that don't know this is essentially an exact byte for byte copy of your computer as it exists at the given time. One can backup to DVDs or external drives. One is also able to access the backup and pull out individual files.

NO SYSTEM IMAGE IN WINDOWS 8 / 8.1

Unfortunately Microsoft decided to remove that feature in Windows 8. You can get that back through using GLARY UTILITIES. It has the exact same image backup system that is found in Windows 7.

I thought some Windows 8 users might find that useful.

Yes I've used that one before...I personally find Glary Utilities easier to use.

    I love R-Drive Image.

    http://www.drive-image.com

Works with all versions of windows and very easy to use. You can create a boot disk and even repair your pc if windows doesn't start at all.

Hey, just wondering... What's the difference between this one and the Windows built-in one? By your description the do the same thing.

None and I actually noticed an issue with this thread. Windows 8 does have a system image backup option, it's located in File History in the Control Panel. *yes*

No idea why they 'hid' it, though.
