I have the late 2015 imac but with i5 core,dealing now with a company related with apple's everything stuff to replace the i5 with the i7 core which i will buy in a few days hopefully and i 'll give for the replace. Apple refused to make the change,some resellers when i asked them they refused as well,its a deep work and needs very caution with the screen. The machine runs smoothly ,i use LPX with a "tons" of plugins ,external HD for samples e.t.c, however, will be good with this upgrade coz some overloading issues with LPX exists now ,also i have 20 GB of ram. Just to give you a small picture of this machine in general. In real time i heard that i7 goes better than i5 and when i have the option to make it better if i can ,well,why not? i saw somewhere that "good hates better" lol
Then i saw here that the new imac pro 2019 is coming, well, sure i will not have the money to buy this beast as they say, might will be,i'm more curious to see what they will bring up. Well i'm still on thoughts if i can aford and spend the money for intel core i7 6700k to upgrade my imac pro yet, and then

 

You'd be better off getting a 2017/2018 27" iMac i7 on eBay or from OWC, maxed out RAM (64 GBs) and a 1 TB SSD, which will still be about $2,000 cheaper than the iMac Pro and work at just about the same speed and efficiency. Then, you can spend half of what you just saved on a matching 4K Apple TB3 monitor and have a dual-monitor setup with a grand left over. Or, for the same price as that iMac Pro, you can buy a fully tricked-out Mac Pro and the 4K monitor ... and you'll have a Mac Pro. A five thousand dollar price tag kind of misses the point of buying an iMac.

Or, for five grand (and this is coming from a Mac guy), you can invest in a loaded iZ RADAR Windoze workstation with PT Ultimate on it.
