mine works great... aside ftom the fact that with mac, you have to use a usb-hub
.. and I continue to enjoy many killer plugins.

I have an ilok = absolute nightmare. At least the Nexus 2 dongle I have works without the head ache of ilok.

 

Maybe iLok2 is worse quality? I still have my iLok1 I got with EastWest composer's collection in 2009, no problems with it.

It must be a Sandisk drive then, right?
Out of about 50 USB pendrives I've used the last 8 years, "only" 3 broke:
One was a cheapo supermarket USB stick that got so hot during writing operations that it finally fried itself - literally.
The other two were recent cheap Sandisk drives that internally switched to read-only operation permanently. The slightest error (e.g. caused by pulling it w/o safe removal in some cases) can cause this.
The only way I know to un-fry them is to use low-level firmware tools to "re-burn" the little sucker, with the risk to fry it completely so of course you better back up the data to two more reliable drives.

 

I actually like the dongle/license idea. Mainly because when formatting my system and re-intalling my plugins it saves me a lot of time and hassle.

The downsides are that there should be just one dongle for all. as i have an ilok and e-licenser thats two things to worry about and two usb ports used straight away.

I also dont like the fact that you have to swap them from computers to use the same software on your pc or laptop and can see why this may be frustrating for people. Thanksfully my ilok never gets removed.

 

we can only hope the developers of ilok come to there senses and provide a better quality dongle .

I guess it's fucked, because I have had 100's of usb thumb drives etc... and not a single one has EVER gone down. I put them through the wash in my laundry etc, hot un-plug them etc... outside of simply losing them, (they are getting so small, i easily do...), I have never had a single one fail that wasn't run over by a truck (literally, where the casing broke,...)... but now i should knock on some serious wood...
