Interesting response from ilok on a status inquiry:

    Hello,

Although the recent news of the crack is true there is a misnomer of people claiming the iLok2 itself has been cracked. The iLok2 hardware has not been exploited rather a portion of the software that supports it. The iLok2 is not defective as of the crack and there has been substantial improvements to the software in the works that will be rolled out in updates to re-establish the security we have provided prior to the crack.

I can assure you the iLok2 is still vital to the security of your licenses and there is no scheduled release of an iLok3. The ZDT coverage should remain in place if you want to have the temporary licenses available

    Best Regards
    xxxxx

Not gonna stop AudioUtopia from implementing their crack with the old ilok 2 software. Prolonging the inevitable

Fair but in the end it's just BS coming thru...
As stated by Real, it's too late for all the software released prior to the future updates on ilok2 :guru:

I believe it, most vendor don't bother integrating deep ilok protection into their software other than East West. Once East West stuff is cracked then I believe ilok2 has been truly defeated.

Saying that the ilok hardware hasn't been cracked after what happened is the same as saying that a key hasn't been cracked after the door itself has been busted open...Completely irrelevant.

Their security system has failed. Period.

Now, let's see what happens regarding their new version, but I really doubt developers will keep paying so much money to implement a security system that could potentially be cracked any day.

In my opinion, their reputation is done.

I heard somewhere it costs somewhere to the tune of $40,000 for DEVS to put their plugs on ILOK2. What a giant rip!! Karma is a bitch if you ask me.

    A couple thoughts
    1) I wonder what this even means. The hardware itself isn't what's protecting the plugins right? It's the encryption and whatever else they use to keep it under wraps. Sounds like doublespeak. Don't worry - iLok2 is still doubleplusgood.

    2) I wonder how they can even know this. I mean AudioUtopia just straight up stripped the wrapper off right? It's just the plugin... out there in the wild like the other plugins? How can they even know where the breech occurred?

Of course I don't know anything about protection, reversing, or coding so I'm talking out of my ass. But it seems to me if I wanted to find out why I have coffee all over my lap I'd need to be able to look at the mug

I think number 2 occurred, I compared some of the legit Slate .dlls with the k'd ones and the latter was 40% smaller every time.
I don't consider iLok to be cracked because if for example a door has a lock on it and you just take the hinges off the door to break in, did you defeat the lock? Doesnt really matter because either way you're emptying the house lmao.

iLok seems to be backing up this by whining that their system wasn't defeated.

'No, you didn't fuk that woman ! You only fuked her vagina. the woman, she remains untouched'.

Ilok staff must be going crazy, asking themselves who's the next company/product to pop-up.

I don't dare imagining all the emails Slate has sent to Ilok, like

    'Dear Ilok,

    W T F

    ?

    Slate digital '

so far, only some 'little' guys got exposed, like slate, exponential, mcdsp, eventide, soundtoys. ..

but the day some East-West , sonnox, Flux, altiverb, etc , get cracked,
    God, oh God,

ilok guys should rather say something clever, like 100 apologies, because all these ~70 -100 Ilok-protected companies could well start a massive class action against them.

unless, of course, there is an ultra tiny text, on the ilok contract, that says ' if the ilok protection should be defeated, any type of class action should be forbidden'.

    Who's next?

I bet Flux plug-ins are slowly being cooked, by Pixie, and they already look and smell good.

I think everybody is asking the same question:

Is AUDIOUTOPIA going to release many other plug-ins? Which ones?
Do they have everything 'Ilok' cracked and ready to release whenever they decide to, or,

so far they have released everything they could get and Crack, and are waiting to get their hands on some other plug-ins they will Crack later?

also, any words from some other teams, about what audioutopia has accomplished? What does R2R think? I mean, defeating an hardware-based protection, it doesn't happen 4 times per year...

any chance some groups can use Audioutopia methodology , to Crack other products, like some did with the R2R stuff?

Considering that all the ILOK nightmare does serve the willingly paying user in no way except making use of commercial software bulky and slow, the whole ILOK world is totally absurd.
