Pretty underwhelmed after trying a few of the popular amps from there. Probably dumb cause i didn't try dialing anything in, but its no tonex

It's better but not "much better". Outside of high-gain it's about the same, as proven by most null test comparisons.

NAM still lacks captures for everything that isn't a 5150 or a Diezel amp for some reason.
I wish more pros would gravitate towards it and make a few packs.

 

So, summing up a few of the ideas here, what does everyone think the easiest way of working with these databases are?

My load time is now unbearable somehow. projects taking like 20 mins haha

It would be nice to hear how people have done it without spending days organizing stuff. :D

 

I just gave up and went back to TH-U (takes less than half a second to load regardless of how many IRs or presets you put in)
It's the software's poor optimization and clunky design they need to OVERHAUL it ASAP

 

I hear a lot of people here are complaing about loading time taking forever. This has nothing to do with poor optimization. The legal copy of software works just fine because all the captures are stored in the cloud, unlike the cracked version where more than 10000 captures are stored locally. That's the big difference. The captures were never meant to be stored on user's PC in the first place. Needless tp say, it will only get worse as the time goes by. Imagine having to wait for 100.000 captures to load. Good luck with that.

 

just to be clear im not complaining. I'm just trying to see what people are doing to keep things minimal and smooth, not that you were talking to me

 

so essentially a group would need to create a virtual cloud kinda thing to access the database... but obviously that's ridiculous

 

and this big difference also means that without their cloud online (even in future) you have...nothing...so I still prefer the local database on my pc.

In any case, we can always reduce the loading time by manually intervening on the database using the guides already published in this thread and create our own custom databases. At the moment the problem can already be easily solved without much effort. Once we have identified our favorite presets (from all the 10000) we can manually modify the database by reducing it (it's a very simple operation).

Also now we have the" choice " of the database divided into two parts or whole...so thanks again to those who are taking care of this for their wonderful and useful work!

 

Sure, you can make your own database. It's the only viable solution, actually.

 

Edit.: Just checked. The method below does not work in the last version, sorry

Edit 2.: For some reason they removed the function that loads the models from the database when you change the filters, so this stopped working but if there's another way to trigger the db file loading (I'll take a look) the method can work with some changes.

Edit 3.: It's a very easy to solve if they wanted to. Just load the IDs and visible data items at start and the othre info + model data on demand when the user selects it.

There's a workaround, it will take less time but you have to do some work:

1. Rename your Library.db file to something like Library.db.bkp
2. Open the plugin, will open instantly
3. Rename the Library.db.bkp back to Library.db (overwrite the one created by the plugin launcher)
4. Open/close the filters and your models will be there.
5. Enjoy.

I use the two databases and swap them around. At the end of the day nobody needs 12000 or whatever it is now profiles. So be ruthless and get rid of the crap ones. At this point the names of the guys who make the best profiles are well known. I intend to practise what I'm preaching but life's too short to audition every profile so I'm taking time out to improve my guitar playing rather than spending all my time chasing Tones.

What I've basically done is read the thread on the gear page where people name their favourite profiles and I'm finding that the same names keep coming up. Most of these names were known and bookmarked by me beforehand but it's good to know that people are agreeing with my choices.

So yeah, just bookmark your favourites and then export and add them to a fresh database. If you start Tonex without a database it should make a new one with not many amps. So you can add your favourites to this new database. There is also the option of buying profiles that were made by pros which is that I have done and I will be buying more before the end of the month.

 

You can filter out 1/4th of the whole database by removing these users:

https://www.tone.net/tonex/users/urzeit - 250+ Kemper captures, some of his high-gain ones are good though

There are lots of other users re-capturing Kemper and modellers but those are the seriously worst offenders.

 

jeez, I was thinking we finally got to a program where guitar syms are finally here for every one. And here we are filtering out other 'users'!

 

I get rid of all Bass related captures: 429 so far (including the IK ones).

 

Another way to do this is to load the bigger database, mark your favorites, then open the Library.db file in sql browser and run the following (make a backup before for safety):

It will remove all non favorite models in the database.
