I know it's kinda new on the market but I'd like to hear the opinion of someone who actually uses or tried the ARC On Ear software. And it's even better if you have tried similar solutions (Realphones, Sound ID Virtual Monitoring System, Slate VSX, etc.), it would be cool to know how it compare to those other options.

Also, I know it's not sold separately (at least atm), but I'd like to know if the software runs without the hardware or if I would be able to use it with my own DAC or Amplifier.

After reading the 4 pages I realized asking here was not of much help as opinions can vary quite a lot on extremely different directions, haha. Nonethless, as someone who's interested in this type of tools I'd be really interested in trying out ARC On Ear if it was a software only product, I'm not up to buy a DAC for that matter tho, it would be interesting to know if it would work without the hardware.

 

Can You Use It Without the Hardware?

The control app is configuration software for the ARC On-Ear unit; the actual correction and simulation run on the device itself.

Because of that design, the ARC On-Ear processing is not sold or licensed as a separate plugin or systemwide app and cannot be used as a generic correction engine with your own standalone DAC/amp; you must monitor through the ARC box for its features.

 

Got it, I was hoping for the software to be able to do it's thing independently, thanks for clarifying
