Musicians can now mike their cabinets with up to two microphones in a full 3D space. Also stock in AmpliTube 4 is an upgraded tuner section with IK's patented UltraTuner technology. Creative connections and effects placement:
New to the signal path in AmpliTube 4 is an effects "loop" insert slot situated between the preamp and power amp sections that can accommodate up to 4 daisy-chained rack effects. In addition to the new effects loop, any stomp or rack effect can now be placed into any effects slot. This means that stomp boxes can be used in the post "rack" section and rack effects can be used in any stompbox slot (on any pedalboard or in the effects loop section). This opens the door even more for creative tweaking and innovative sonic sculpting possibilities.

8-Track Recorder/DAW under the hood:
When used in standalone mode, AmpliTube 4 now features a built-in 8-track DAW that makes recording ideas and songs a breeze. Its powerful sequencer-like waveform editing should be immediately familiar to any modern musician, making it easy for anyone to use it as a sketchpad for new ideas or as a full-featured recording solution on its own. Each track features standard treble, mid and bass EQ, pan control, level, mute, solo and record enable functions, plus there's an FX enable button that allows for the application of different tone configurations to individual tracks.

This looks like a nice upgrade.

 

IKM sure know about marketing. In the climax of the Mesa release hype they announce a major upgrade.

The amp sim race is on fire. So much that I disconnected a few days ago and switch back to my oldies Revalver MKIII.V and S-Gear until the weather settles down. All the new releases are exciting but for the same reason I haven't enough time to figure out what's the best for me.

There's one thing I can't help asking: what technology use Amplitube cab sims? Proprietary algorithmic or typical IR based?

No mention of the ability to load third-party IRs, unless I missed it.

 

You just bypass the cab sim, and add Your IR after Amplitube, with a IR loader plugin of Your choice.
It works just in a daw... in a standalone version it is not possible as far I am aware of.

Maybe they added that option in a version 4 ?!? we will see.

 

I understand that, I meant loading the IRs into Amplitube itself rather than having to use a separate loader like LeCab. You'd think they'd implement it in v4, but there's no mention of it.

 

Nope. It's a low down dirty shame. Users have been requesting this feature for quite some time.

 

It's a shame but it makes sense in terms of marketing. Since the only major sound improvement is their new cab simulator it's not convenient for them. It would be much easier to test & compare with an external IR loader

That's one of the things I like most from Revalver. You can load not only external IRs but any VST. Most obvious use: other companies amp heads

The IR loader would be cool, but not too much of a loss since IK's own cabs are convolution based. It's just built into the plugin and not separate is all.

on the details at the top is says 32 & 64 bit. But on their website it only says 64 bit. I just checked right now under the SPECS tab. I hope its 32 bit also.

 

If I remember well they once said in a forum they couldn't do that because it could mess up their modeling techs inside amplitube. However this explanation made sense for the old version (Amplitube 3) not for a major upgrade. On the other side, Revalver also improved his cabinets but also mantained the old module to load custom IRs. Far better choice IMHO.

 

Definitely one of the best Sexy Gui Anyway . Looks Sick, can wait to test them, and yeh agree with Articstorm hate that Custom Shop thingy, reminds me of a Avid shit move.

 

Wait, I'm kinda lost... what's the difference between convolution based and impulse response based?
