so a lot of sounds across the arrangement i was dealing with have stereo information

but now that i checked it in mono it just sounds muffled and weird for lots of those sounds i selected

what approach do you take in this case?

do i need to replace all the sounds that i find weird in mono? or try improve them somehow?

    thanks

clean it in mono and then redo the Stereo Image (pan, any phase issues, EQ side channel later, but first fix Mid channel)

Thats what i would try, i am not an expert in this ...

Not a tip for your actual issue, but listen to some references in mono before proceed with your mixdown, maybe you're not that far from your goal. And after that, if you still think your track need some improvement try to start with simple levels adjustments while in mono, chances are that it will sound even better than before when you switch back to stereo.

at this point? I am guessing it is some EDM track from your prior posts. mono your kick and your sub. leave the rest alone and check it. then leave it alone, or use something like Waves S1 stereo imager to narrow each track width down and aim each one a tiny bit off center. alternating each track like you might with pan.

do you have some way of monitoring in mono when you work? for me, it is helpful to have it be one button and within close reach (or I get lazy about it).

Figure out which track has the issue. Add Delay, not much though, between 8 and 20ms to the right or left channel pick one, ur choice. Check if its better.
