I am trying to install live 9 using the i/o patch on a brand new computer. for some reason windows 7 can`t read the info file???
from my own memory here is what i did.
1.install live and uncheck auto start up. click finish.
    2. run the patch
3.go to program data and double click on the authorization file to launch live.
but it says that this authorization is invalid on this computer.
Have i missed a step somewhere?

Maybe go with the 9.0.1 version from R2R, not much has changed between the two versions anyways

Actually (at least on Mac), from 9.0.1 to 9.1.2 a lot has changed. 9.0.1 was buggy as hell.
The patches are version specific, as the addresses to patch change in every release.
So for 9.1.2 you need 9.1.2 patch. At least on Mac, if I remember well on Win is the same.

Thanks for that reply. Just hoping someone could post the instructions on how to authorize with the I/o patch.

the "info" that you refer to must be that .nfo file that the release came with... I added a link below for Damn NFO-Viewer, a Windows program that will allow you to read these files... its a must have for Windows-Warez users. *yes*

Here is what the .nfo file says for Windows users:

Win: Setup/Install Ableton Live 9 Suite
    (Setup.msi). Launch LivePatch.exe then
select 'patch' button. Use the Authorize
.auz file in app directory to license.
Any errors can safely be ignored; it's
due to simultaneous 32/64 bit searching.

    Have fun guy

Another wee tip for when you come to read nfo files my friend:

Right click on the nfo file.
In the context menu that appears, select "Open With" and choose Notepad.
Set that as default and you`ll not need any of the nfo viewers, if you so choose.

Have fun with Ableton, still the most immediate and fun audio playground there is! :mates:

definitely true. I'm on mac now (HOORAY), and i couldnt seem to find an nfo-viewer app mentioned in another thread called "Quicklook Plugin" or something-or-other... needless-to-say, I read somewhere that i can just open nfo's with the text-editor, but might not get all the graphical shapes and pictures that some of the nfo's have... but they've all opened fine so...

P.S. ditto on Ableton's "immediacy" in terms of getting ideas down and projects rollin' out... Between FL Studio, Reason, PT, Cubase, Digital Performer and Logic, Ableton's ease-of-use and almost horizontal learning curve has the other DAW's mentioned in the dust... like not even close!!

    imo of course.

Also.... A Chronology of my DAW learning/use:

    1). Reason
    2). FL Studio
    3). Cubase
    4). Ableton
    5). Digital Performer
    6). Pro Tools
    7). Logic
