I love Reaper because..

    The thing with Reaper speed and incredible small footprint is that is programmed almost from scratch.

    Using only small mandatory libraries (zlib, jpeg,..) the rest are done by the same developer(s). No wonder was J.Frankel, Reaper creator, who coded WinAmp.

    I'd dare to guess it's coded almost entirely in plain C++, using the Windows C++ API. Not even using MSoft frameworks, or another C++ ones (Qt, like Ableton Live). Though I'm a quite a bit over my head in this.
