This morning, I got a ban warning for suggesting to developers not to put flags on plugins so my clients don't storm out of my studio, or start a fist-fight in the control room.. I have a lot of Eastern European & Russian clients (Its the wavegroove Islander plugin with Ukraine flag on it). After the warning and my post was deleted, I couldn't believe it... So I literally followed that deleted post up with -- "I got a ban warning for suggesting to developers not to put flags on plugins so my clients don't storm out of my studio or start a fight in the control room and cause 100k in damage" -- and within 5 minutes, my entire account was banned altogether. It's absolutely crazy over there.. like totalitarian/fascist police-state and corporate fascist also.. you cannot even say -- "Well, I know of a plugin that is both better and far cheaper than this one" and its a ban warning.. They say that its allowed in "moderation", buts that BS and even they know it..

 

A sign of the times I would say. Politicising plugins or apps is one thing (which I don't agree with either), but to think our beloved muso platforms are compromised is a scary thought. Nobody's safe!!

I never bothered to make an account there or get too involved over there. Seems like they'd be more fun if they were still slutz.

 

So your overly sensitive clients get triggered by a plugin, you're too sensitive to stand up for yourself and your property, and Gearspace is too sensitive so they overreact and ban you. Literally everybody looks bad in your story.

Btw. I'm totally against war and I really don't like what happens in Ukraine but music is a
medium for everyone, no matter what your nationality is so the tools for creating music should
stay out of politics as well. For some people it's the only way to escape from reality for a moment
and developers should respect that!

As an example, I removed the flag & replaced it with your account picture + removed the "help" words on top.



Additionally I disabled calling home and opening links in the browser but thats something I do on most plugins on my machine
to keep my DAW offline without having to mess around with my firewall/hosts file.

I agree with r4e (great work, and by the way, I'd like to do the same for Sonible, which keeps pinging while I'm using it, so forgive me for taking the opportunity to ask you how to do it).
However, I also think that Wavegroove, as well as many others, including Rapidgator, don't give a shit about Ukraine or Russia, nor about the dead civilians on the Risiko party. All they care about is making the most money in the easiest way possible. It's speculative commercial hypocrisy just for money.
In the meantime, I will be deleting my account from Gearspace, not before motivating my exit with a big bucket of shit.

 

It's an internet forum not a hospital or post office you've been banned from. You are putting way too much of yourself into this. Also, if you knew you have poopoosniski and poopoosnikov clients coming in, maybe a little foresight on your part could have avoided the catastrophe in the first place.

As always though, it is always easier to blame someone else than do anything ourselves so personally I think you get a mulligan on the first one.

You've been barred from a website where you can just make a different alias in 2 mins and get right back to trolling. It's not quite on the same level as being caught wearing an "I love Hutu" sweater made out roast chicken in a starving militant TuTsi village.

I always was kinda triggered by that flag on that plugin. It's a war, there's no need to include political propaganda on anything for making art. Art is a way to bring joy to ourselves and others on this world full of dread.

It's kind of silly to do that to the interface of a plugin. I would do like you are, and just not buy it or use it then. But I think Material Compressor, LOL WTF!, Nani plugins, are all silly looking too. But at the same time, some of the most important works of art, and music in human history have the most controversial issues as their subject matter. This little plugin is not Picasso's Geurnica. (i only picked this one because it is nearly 30 feet long).

 

I've been a member at Gearslutz (I never cottoned to the new name, never post and never will spend any time there) for years and felt for the most part outside of a few knowledgeable pros in the distant past that the place was a schizophrenic mosh pit of spike-haired 1970s Brit anarchists armed with Bowie knives and that the moderators were psychotic cannibals who'd gladly eat your children alive if they could just grab them and throw them into their non-windowed panel van and drive away to their secluded abandoned factory building on the outskirts of town. Hang out here with the beautiful people and be at one with the Universal Love Vibe. If Bob Marley were alive today he'd surely be a daily contributing member of good standing at ...

I once was banned for 3 months because I criticized a developer. They didn't bother to give exactly that as a reason. They didn't hide the fact that it was about revenue from ads. I could have pissed off the developer.

So ... they are sl*tz. And capitalists. What every enterprise is. Supposed to be. And that is political. Where being political is forbidden. You know where I am going with that. In the end: It's their forum, it's their playground, it's their enterprise, it's their rules. And it's me stating that they are simply sl*tz. Despite the change of name.

 

Both GS and KVR moderation have been topics many times. But I think the initial story about this plugin, possible 100K damage to a studio control room because of physically fighting clients, using a plugin that you do not like the GUI of instead of just buying another was so full of red flags as BS they just decided to delete it.

Maybe they thought the comments were a) trolling b) politically based c) warez related d) complete BS. Or all 4. So they deleted a comment.

I don't like either board, but this one is really not so hard to figure out. Making a fresh new alias username here should even serve as more confirmation of that. If you want to BS somebody, you could at least get your story straight.

 

That sounds like a cool fanfic you wrote, I give it 60 out of 100 points for creativity. Could've been more effective if you somehow made it about, you know, a newer conflict that is going on.
