I like to think I'm pretty good at installing the different types of audio releases on here and AudioZ and am well versed with the sites, but this is the first time I've ever actually posted anything. I am in need of assistance!

I am just now attempting to install some things on a Macbook, and even with my PC experience, I have no idea what I'm doing to get these different pro-audio programs installed properly. What am I doing with all of these codes that look like they should be pasted into Terminal? What does "K'd" mean? What is the difference for U2B and what exactly does that mean?

I told some people Id have everything on their Macbook in just a few days, but I've put it off since I thought it would be similar to installation stuff on the PC.

I could really use just a very broad installation guide that would help some newbies like me that are very Macbook or Apple experienced. I really appreciate all of you in these forums and over on AudioZ. You have made my life better and made me a happier person as a result. Sorry if I have messed up any posting rules or anything, but I could use your help!

install everything on a dell laptop, add one of them there skins to make it look like a mac, stick one of those apple stickers over the dell logo and give it back to them. easy peasy, everybodys happy.

Pro Tip: If you want to get yourself into this world, a minimum requisite is to know how to Download + Install a program. Usually one gets practice downloading and installing simple programs like a web browsers / music listening softwares / basic apps.

They all follow a simple procedure: Download - (Read / Follow) Instructions - Install.

Should any download be an issue with all "the codes" , have a look at that particular download page for answers = troubleshooting. You are best advised to ask questions on each and every download you get stuck with.

 

It's all that terminal stuff. Codesigning sudo jujitsu voodoo. I see it and I'm just glad I'm on a PC.

The idea of installing warez on Mac give me nightmares. I wouldn't even buy one if i knew i'd use stuff from the Sister Site.

 

Majority of the time, the relevant sudo commands you'll need for software from the sister-site deal with:

* code signing, and
* de-quarantining

For tasks such as, resetting app permissions, you can use “BatChmod.”

To block access to certain domains, you will need to edit your “hosts” file, which is located at:

* [volume]/private/etc/

In some cases, you may need a Firewall app to stop software from “phoning home.” A decent open-source option to get you started is “Lulu” by Objective-See.

Get yourself a copy of “AppCleaner.” Use it to remove any third-party apps.

Become familiar with these directories. Sometimes you will need to remove leftover files manually:

* [volume]/library/preferences/
* [volume]/users/[user name]/library/caches/
* [volume]/users/[user name]/library/preferences/

“K'd” means, “cracked.” It's dumb P2P terminology.

“U2B” means that the single *.app caters to both Apple Silicon and Intel.

Yeah it's probably not too bad. And if you're having a problem with a tricky installation, probably many many more are too. Don't be afraid of a little terminal copy pasting
