Yeah, I get that... However, the title "mastering engineer" implies a level of professionalism. The way in which you described the problem lacks the tact of a professional.

In Germany, the term "mastering engineer" is a protected job description. Meaning that you need a degree. Especially the "engineer" part of it.

The thing is that title "attracts" jokes. Powerfully so. That aside, to me the OP question is legit, even if there's little to do.
So true... that's why I don't ask questions. I'd hijack the whole forum xdd

You don’t need to have a paper from a college or conservatory, nor do you need 10000 hours of experience to do a task faster, more proficient & regarded by peers “better” to do ANYTHING in life. Period

The real long term solution is to:
    - get him a pop filter if he's not using one already
    - angle the mic differently
    - change the distance from the mic
    - get a mic that fits the voice
    - use less compression

    Start from scratch:
Get Bob Katz book from libgen or buy if you have the money (a lot of it is outdated though, you don't need to read through CD mastering chapter until a client demands it imo).
Also watch Ian Shepherd on Youtube, that guy is great too.
Learn Izotope RX, you will have to do a lot of corrective work because your clients won't always be able to rebounce their sessions.

Learn more about plugins that were made for mastering, why they differ from plugins that were also intended for mixing, and how that doesn't matter in practice because you use plugins that weren't intended for that purpose all the time like de-esser on drums to tame hi hats

I'm sorry I'm so late to the party but I do have one pointer for you. Make sure he only sings songs that don't have 'th' or 's' obviously in them

    Fair enough.
    1) Start by using an eq and compression
    2) Isolate the problem frequencies
    3) Use a de=esser and up the threshold
    4) Take it to a level where the vocal disappears, then bring it down gradually until it starts to sound natural
    5) Adjust attack to taste.

A lisp could be natural, bad use of plugins to control the consonants, or a bad edit. Send it back to mix before master
