It's been a while since I imported an rx2 file and I'm unable to import rx2 in Logic (10.7.7). I remember just dragging them into audio tracks a while back. Now Logic ignores the file when I drag it in from the Finder. I also tried importing them into Sampler and it ignored the files also.

Did I miss something?

you need the REX Shared Library. bundle file. The links for this were all bad, but some poster mentioned icedaudio AudioFinder has the file in its location after it is installed. I put the inside a zip file: https://filebin.net/cjudzor2tyudvg5n

put the REX Shared Library.bundle file in /library/Application support/Propellerhead Software/Rex/

To do this just create a folder Rex if you don't have one:
/library/Application support/Propellerhead Software/Rex/

restart Logic and it works. File, import audio file, and select a rx2 file. Preview also works now, in Finder and Loop Library browser.

Wow! Thanks a lot for uploading the REX Shared Library for me! That didn't do the trick for me, though. I restarted my computer and tried again to no avail. I checked permissions on that new folder and on the file, both have permissions for read and write. Do you have more ideas?

 

Oh, I Codesigned the .Bundle file using Codesigner app. I did not reboot to get it working. I just closed Logic entirely and then re-opened it, after putting it in the right place. But I am on Intel and Logic 10.4. If you are on Apple Silicon, maybe it is different.

 

I just read somewhere that Logic 10.4.x is the last version to support REX files. So maybe keep that in mind for yourself. I'm using 10.7.7 (also on Intel). That must be why I can no longer import them. It seems RX2 is kinda the past now anyway.

 

I don't use Recycle anymore, and I delete them from any sample packs. After 10.5 update, Drum Machine Designer is no longer backed up by Ultrabeat. If you import a wav file, option/right click the audio waveform and do the Drum Machine Designer option; it will do Hitpoint Separation, and put all your slices in new Instances of DMD/Sampler, and your sample/dmd tracks in a Group. It also generates a Midi Track to trigger the slices, so you just rearrange the midi whatever way you want.

The only way I would go back to using Recycle for anything is if I had a SCSI card in my mac, connected to external hw sampler. All it becomes is duplicate files with different extensions and waste ssd/hd space. I do not leave the DAW for anything, if I can help it. ;]
