Greetings, I'm in some kind of dilemma. I want to buy ableton 9 Suite or komplete 11 Ultimate, but I don't know which one to buy. I know that komplete is a sound library and the other is a DAW, but I like both since I demo'ed.

hi my friend,if you don't have a DAW already, start with that, ableton or any other has sounds, plugins & you can start making music just with that

you can make music with that, also you have the option to pick some of the native instruments stuff, for example you can start with massive & fm8

You won't get satisfactory answers unless you express yourself a bit more.
Nobody here can read your mind.

  8. You can get an ointment for that.

I'd say both is waste of money:
    1) if you have FL then why rush into another DAW?
    2) Komplete 11 has majority of crap in it, so depends if you really need that all, there are many better virtual instruments and sounds on the market

    (EDIT)
for me, Reaper is DAW of choice (but I work primarily with recorded audio), if I wanted something Ableton-like (virtual instruments, live playing etc..), I'd probably give a try to Bitwig, looks sleek and promising for future
talking about virtual instruments, Omnisphere, Additctive Drums, Addictive Keys, Modo Bass, UJAM Virtual Guitarist series, MusicLab guitar series, Sample Modeling (SWAM) Saxophones and Clarinets series, Albion One orchestral library, Gothic Instruments libraries, Output libraries, Heavyocity libraries, Zero-G libraries...those all seem more interesting than what's offered by Native Instruments

I mean... are you happy with FL?

Do you like the instruments and effects in FL or would you rather be using 3rd party stuff?

Tbh if you don't already have some third party synths and fx and/or don't intend to get some soon, I don't know if I'd recommend getting Live when you already have another DAW. It's not that the instruments in Live aren't good, but they're kind of basic. You're meant to be 'building your own synths' out of Live's instrument racks and effects.

On the other hand, in FL you get Hamor and Sytrus. Sawer is kinda cool too. Not much comparison in that department

I'm 24/7 in FL, but the violin libraries are what are getting me.

Sounds like you've made up your mind already.

Get what you want - Violin libraries and all. Why fight with yourself about something so simple. Live has no violin libraries.

Have you tried Sakura? Idk much about it but IIRC it's a dedicated synth for emulating string instruments

Anyway, i have no doubt Komplete hast some orchestral stuff for Kontakt. That's prob what you want if you need violin sounds

actually live 9 suite does come with a violin library
    https://www.ableton.com/en/packs/orchestral-strings/

but i agree. you have fl12, getting all of live 9 suite or all of komplete 11 ultimate is total overkill. keep it simple and learn your tools (not that i can talk haha)

I will tell you what to buy, but you should first tell me which socks to wear dark red with some motif or blue ones pure.
