How to sound like The Residents?

    Not sure if this is the correct place for this, but how in the world do you make sounds like The Residents. Things like the random interjections of noise in Meet the Residents, or the sound in the beginning of Perfect Love or even just the general production of weird sounds like that.

    the Residents are very unique with a VERY long history til the 70s. They KNOW how any equipment works, and all the effects u heare are kinda pre digital era. I assume lots of distortion pedals involved and other guitar pedals early 70s synths+ echo machines + Studio Knowhow...
    BTW dont forget there was a close connection to Snakefinger, another weird Sound"engineer".

    I can only think of the ARP Odyssey from '72...any other classic synths come before then, or after '75.
    But yeah!
