hi, does anyone know how to achieve the sound of the background vocals of this beat ?

it sounds to me like they recorded the vocal at a lower bpm -> varispeed up -> formant shift -> heavy compression -> delay -> reverb -> bounce and pitch back down

i tried this with my own vocal takes and it is close but still feels off. perhaps it is not about the processing chain itself but maybe just works better on female vocals ?

a similar effect can be heard in the bgvs of this song

this is my first post of this type so sorry if i violated some unwritten rules of this forum

Just pitch it down, that's all you need to do. Then there are different algorithms say for example Ableton's complex and complex pro warping algorithms that allows you to adjust formants and grains to the taste. There are tons of plugins that can do that each slightly different like Devious Machines Pitch Monster, Antares Bundle, Izotope, Polyverse Manipulator, Waves and so on
