Hi all, How can I tweak my guitar (vsti) to sound like this:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NYTd9KwCyOo

I tried to mimic that sound, yesterday, but what I made sounds too "clean". I dont touch guitars too much (deeply) I use presets and do minor tweaks to my guitars so now I need your help guys

I have vir2 electrcity, some ample sound guitars, shredage2
guitar fx: Amplitube3 and guitar rig

To be specific, What guitar should I use?, what effects? and how?

I haven't tried the vir2 electr6ity (or however it's spelled) or the ample guitars but have tried the shreddage 2,I don't think you can get that sound out of that. That's a real guitar so may be tricky to get the legato or other articulations, you could prolly get kinda close with music lab real lpc and amplitube or guitar rig.I personally use my keyboard workstation because it has some pretty nice lead guitar patches, but I've looked for some good guitar patches, vsti's or libraries for awhile, theres a couple half way decent patches in the hypersonic 2 and a couple others, but most lead guitars that I've heard that are solo instruments sound funny when bending notes especially if you've got distortion on em or they sound weird in different octaves. Theres some nice sounding ones for kontakt but some of them have similar issues too. Some are loops, etc or have keyswitches or velocity switches.I'd like to find some real chunky metal ones with power chords & chugs & stuff. Vmetal 2 looks sweet,so does I think it may be called ministry of rock 2 or something but never tried em.Be nice to have a few huge 80's or 90's sounding lead guitars that we're solo instruments, kinda on the hunt myself. The real lpc is pretty nice combined with amplitube or guitar rig or any amp sim like poulin etc.The real strat isn't too bad either.I've even messed with putting distortion on certain electric piano sounds and have made decent lead guitar sounding sounds. Not real sure I helped at all because I'm not familiar with what the ones you mentioned sound like other than shreddage 2,but gonna watch this thread because I'm kinda interested too.Good luck

I remember watching something on TV years ago with Mike showing you how he got his guitar sounds, might be worth searching youtube or similar. A lot of his guitar sounds are actually 2 guitars

and read... there is a lot of attempts :)

Once I read about that lead sound I found information about Mike setup... it's not something special, Roland GP-8 processor, lot of compression + cho + dly + rev and clean guitar sound... but he has a little homemade box called "Glorfindel" or something like that, created by some friend, and it's a special fx like fuzz and it's allways in Mike's chain.

Look, that special folk sound came from his style of playing and nothing more...
