Hi LigetFan - I will give that a try also.

I think I have a Telecaster VSTi somewhere - I was going with the Stratocaster because that was what a lot of Soul/Funk/Disco guitarists used in the 70's.

yeah Rose Royce... I think that chord is used in Car Wash too... or something very similar to it...

when I heard your clip the 1st thing that came to my mind was "Car Wash" , wayback machine...

for the hell of it... ( replaced with better sound quality )

Wow thats very informative - thanks for posting that.

Although it is not Car Wash I am working on, the technique the guitarist used is the same.

So the saga continues and I still need to call on the good people of this forum for some help.

I have spent weeks now (in between illness and dealing with a family emergency) to recreate the exact sound of the guitar 'twang' like sample which comes from a Rose Royce track called RR Express. (Audio example in my original post at the start of this thread).

I have been trying the methods suggested already and while I can kinda get close (see new audio example on this post) I can not get it correct. More specificly I can not get the guitar VSTi's that I am using to play the chord as high as the one in my original post. They just do not seem to be able to play high enough up the fret.

I have run the sample through Celemony's Melodyne 4 which I have always found to be quite accurate in detecting the correct notes and each time it has said that it is an A# chord.

The notes that I am currently using in the new audio example on this post are:

    A#4

    D#4

    A#3
Using Ilya Efimov TC Electric (Telecaster) through Amplitube 4 with a custom preset.
    Guitar_Twang_Telecaster.wav

    I have also tried it with a Unison Bend on just the A & A# and D & D# (3 & 4) but that just didn't sound right either.

Please bare in mind that I am not a guitarist and I am using Guitar Emulation VSTi's.

The VST's that I have tried so far are:

    Ample Sound AGF2 (fender stratocaster)

    MusicLab RealStrat (fender stratocaster

    Evolution Stratosphere (fender stratocaster

    Evolution Strawberry

    Ilya Efimov TC Electric (Telecaster)

Can anyone make any further suggestions?

I feel like it might be a quick midi lick on the piano roll, and have you tried changing the pickup on the vsti so that it plays a higher pitched sound? Maybe also a good cab emulation impulse response (ie like a free one from guitar hack) as opposed to going directly from the VI into a heavy distortion vst effect like guitar rig, then also maybe a very tight and short delay

    Hi beatmagnus

Thank you for taking the time to reply - I do appreciate it m8.

I have just spent a couple of hours trying out your suggestion on all of the Guitar VST's that I have but with no luck.

The whole dang problem seems to be that the VSTi's simply will not play the chord high enough to match the original track.
A friend did suggest that maybe the original guitarist is playing Octives but again the VST's do not seem to allow that (or if they do
I have not worked out how)....

Sounds to me like a D# octave with the root bent slightly sharp. Just played it on my guitar. 3rd string (G) 8th fret (bent slightly sharp) and 1st string (E) 11th fret.
