I'd be really happy to know how to make the intro sweep from Depeche Modes "A Question of Lust" because I simply been trying for decades without success...any help much appreciated!

    Cheers isdjan

seems like a VERY stretched sample in a 80's sampler - that makes everything slower and some octaves down. the "throat" effect is mostly because of the low bit, it happens a lot when you pass a sweeper thru a bit reducer.

Very slow moving bandpass with modulated frequency and resonance into reverb?

    Video for reference:

I looked into it a little further. I almost think that that intro contains at least three layers...

    * a sample or similar (the high pitched, airy part right from the beginning)
    * a bandpass with lots of resonance based on a deep sawtooth or similar
    * some fm or flanging third layer that comes in in the middle.

I was able to roughly recreate the bandpass part with an Arturia Modular V3, I also (very roughly) made that airy, vocal like sound at the start (white noise thru lowpass with high resonance), but the sound that might be fm is still not clear to me...

Thanks for your hints and thoughts, more input appreciated!
