So, the question is, how do you make flute sound like this?

I`ve tried making it from Berlin Wodwinds, didn`t work at all, not even close. Then I tried to use a sample rfom KSHMR pack, put some Trash 2, tons of compression, exciting, got a little bit closer, but still doesn`t sound fat and powerful as this one in the example. Don`t know how to describe, but I listen to my flute and its meh :D
If you want, I have the stem of this flute, if anyonce can analyze it. I`m not that good with this kind of stuff

The pluck in the beginning is just a pluck :D

It sounds like other sounds stacked together (in different octaves). I don't hear a flute alone per se.
Maybe try stacking a pitched guitar and a synth lead with a highpassed flute.

Edit: Coincidingly I'm into morphing different sounds, to combine pitch and timbral of each other (like Zynaptiq Morph and Meldaproductions Mmorph). It's fun!

I think that this is flute too. I have the same sample, its from the remix pack of this track.
I actually think, I can cut 1 note from that sample and use it like that :D

 

I’m pretty sure that sound is coming from some type of middle eastern strings... these are some examples of the instruments:

 

I`m from Azerbaijan, and we have all those instruments too, but it clearly sounds like woodwind, not strings. And even in the stems of multitrack for this song, it says flute

Edit: it maybe some eastern type of flute, but mostly I think it sounds like that because of the processing

It's not only one sound but many sounds layered.

 

You dont recognize the similarities? Theres definitely a string in there you can hear the plucks, but its layered with a woodwind most likely.

 

That sample that you posted is different from the beat. The original beat has a guitar layered on top of that unless thats what you are showing here? At 1:05 there seems to be 2 different strings playing. A normal acoustic guitar as the main and a sort of plucky middle east strings along with other layers.

NOT a Guitar, nor a Flute ;) It's a string instrument from the balkan as mentioned by swavenation.

Also, the tuning is important as well. Balkan/oriental regions work with micro-tonality (pitch-increments smaller than a "western" half-step)! That's what gives the performance it's distinct character.
