Kudos for ending so stylish :)

I guess I can close the topic since it’s kind of ‘solved’, with multiple solutions and amongst those yours, but I’ll keep it up because of the nice suggestions.
Sure 808’s are really popular nowadays, and because it’s simple nature processing it will only go certain range with mostly basic processes to fatten it up etc, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t discuss these techniques because of that. I’m happy with the way this thread went — it got me on track of the VSM-3 e.g. which I really, really like for stuff like this (and disregarded all this time).

So I’m all for talking these stuffs :mates:

Sorry, it’s too big now. Even your favorite pop star has sung over those 808 and fast hihats. It’s too late now, sir... :bleh:

Speaking about creative product, every new solution that then becomes mainstream, starts having to accomplish to very specific stylistic rules, after that, it quickly becomes a parody of itself: it cages itself in a ghetto and can no longer get out of it. When this happen, the artistic research is over and what remains possible is to only add small aesthetic variations into very strict boundaries.

The search for aesthetics is the death of the artistic message.

I am perhaps a bit drastic on the subject, but I believe that when a new way of playing music becomes a genre, when a #hashtag can be written under the song to define it (Trap, House, Death metal, whatever) well, .. the mission of the artist is accomplished. What remains to be done is to move on and continue to push ahead with new solutions.

I get what you say but it's a very complex topic with lots of ramifications. It does certainly applies to many cases.
