A friend of mine is trying to install XPand from Air Technology on a Mac with Big Sur OS
But he receive this message: This pack is not compatible with this MacOS version.

How is it possible, as I read that last year they made it compatible with Big Sur?

    Thanks in advance

    Edit:
It seems that I found the solution.
You have to install ILok and activate the license, before installing XPand.

(as always, ILok so practical for final user... what a shit)

It's not a preset problem. (Yet)

Now that he finally installed it, he tells me that logic don't see it...

Any help is welcome as I don't use Mac and I don't know how to help him.

This is version 2.2.7 it's the last one.
Think of any stupid error. I believe he does not know how to use logic with plugins. He just bought a keyboard and he is very new to this.
He is using Logic version 10.5

Latest Logic version is 10.7.3, which works with Big Sur (latest 11.6.5), so it shouldn't be a problem to update. Also, he must not forget to restart his Mac after installation, otherwise Logic won't show it. Another issue could be Intel vs M1. Air only works on Intel for now. That said, Air is a really bad company when it comes to support or using their tools on latest OSX/Mac. Which is a shame, because I still like using the FX collection Plus for example. Anyway, hope this helps!

Usually works the second time you open it. Been installing Air Music Tech products for hundreds of times on Big Sur and Monterey, Another weird bug I found is if you copy the installer into another place it works. Also in case it doesn't in the future use unpkg for mac to unpack the installer and inside you will find the .big database and the plugins. Air Music Tech takes around 3-4 years to release an update.

I remember with Structure when I posted for the first time how to make it work on Mojave the customers got so angry at Air they had to delete their entire forum page.

    Also:
    - sometimes, adding "_x64" to plugins make them be read on certain DAWs
    - codesigning their "Symbiosis" in macOS folder inside the plugin
    - there is a version of Xpand available in the update section on their website but guess what: on M1 the FX section dropdown is impossible to open

PS: if you have M1 many times with Air plugins Logic must run in Rosetta to validate them, and then they'll work natively (Loom 2 still has issues)

Olymoon, you should suggest he gets OSX Validate All AU's utility. It is a free little GUI application, that issues terminal commands to force Logic's AUVALtool (audio unit plugin validation) to "See" every AU plugin that is installed. It's fast, but also good for people who are not great with typing terminal commands with all the stops, directories, etc, themself. It makes things very difficult for them to screw up. I'm not even sure they could :)

The only other better Mac time saver is Codesigner.app. For the same reasons. (not in reference to Xpand, but just for your friend with the plugin problems )

Thank you, I'll tell him to do this, but it sound Chinese to me and unfortunately it will probably sound the same to him. He is a complete novice. I'd better keep things simple for now.

Logic's plugin manager can give people a hard time, because it's validation tool ignores the plugins when scanning. it just gives them a little push :)

Do him a solid and tell him to use something else. Anything else. Xpand is one of the worst synths ever made. It sounds like some kid's first Reaktor synth from 2006. I remember actually laughing when I was testing it out. I know your friend is just a beginner but that thing is so horrid. He'd be better off farting into the mic.

Seriously tho the Logic physical modeling synth is 100x better. Sculpture I think it's called? And ofc Alchemy is great. Those two along with Space Designer could make some great sounds. Anything but Xpand please god no

As I predicted yesterday, he is now unable to copy and see presets,
I gave him 2 different type of presets, user presets, and commercial preset banks

Hopefully one of you can help me to explain how he could do this on Mac.
