I was wondering if someone could show me how to achieve this vocoder type of sound found in this song by Jay Rock called Redemption. It's almost a remake from the song Guy - Piece Of My Love.

I'm not sure if its chopped from the original sample with added effects or if there is some kind of vocoder synth plugin out there in the world. I've also heard of a talk box effect. Could it be that? Someone help please! Thank you in advance

 

I would say it's a vocorder with a synth program that has some serious filtering shifts and stuff. (sorry, my synth skills are pretty limited. Thankful for all those lovely pre-sets out there.) It doesn't sound like a talk box or breath controller to me. Yes, there are Vocorder plug-ins.

 

I'd say vocoder with flanger and chorus (post vocoder).
